In my opinion, the Ghent Altar from van Eyck is one of the most famous and detailed Kastenbrust-Painting from 15C!

Strange thing - wondeful sallet, harsh edge from early Kastenbrust, but two-parts decorated breastplate, like the regular rounded gothic ones...

Liebe Freunde, liebe Geschichtsinteressierte,

viele von Euch wissen mittlerweile, dass ich seit dem Frühjahr 2014 an einer geschichtlichen Zusammenstellung von Kastenbrust-Quellen arbeite, die im September 2015 die Zahl von knapp 90 Einzelquellen erreicht hat (mit wohl ca. 250 Abbildungen von einzelnen Kämpfern mit Kastenbrust).

Da ich für mich im September 2015 die Entscheidung getroffen habe, diese Arbeit zu veröffentlichen, kommt jetzt die Arbeit auf mich zu, jede einzelne Quelle wissenschaftlich zu belegen, zu datieren und alle in einen Gesamtkontext zu setzen.

Zu dieser Unterstützung habe ich diese Seite aufgesetzt, um - sofern Ihr Euch beteiligen wollt - mit Eurer Hilfe die strittigen und unklaren Quellen zu diskutieren, gemeinsam zu lokalisieren oder auch um Neue, mir noch völlig unbekannte Quellen, zu entdecken.

Fühlt Euch frei, diese Seite auch für eigenen Themen zum Thema Kastenbrust zu nutzen...

Selbstverständlich halte ich Euch alle hier auch regelmässig über den Fortgang meiner Arbeit auf dem Laufenden ;-)

Interesting fact:
The epitaph was made of red marble from Salzburg (austria) and both locations (Salzburg and Ptuj Castle) lies beside tributary rivers of the river Danube.
At current state of research, there are 7 Kastenbrust-sources from danube-surroundings.

"Kreuzigung von Rimini"; Masters from Rimini Altar (about 1430th)

Provenience: S. Maria delle Grazie (Rimini-Convignan), manufactured perhabs in northern-france or the neatherlands.
