Call for Submissions – R&D Management Conference 2017
We would like to announce the R&D Management Conference 2017 which will take place from July 1st to 5th. Leading representatives from industry and academia in the field of R&D Management from all over the world will meet at Leuven, Belgium. The conference topic, that is "Science, Markets & Society: Crossing boundaries, creating momentum", will take a broad perspective on technology and innovation management. Moreover, we would like to call your attention to the track on Track on Business Model Openness – A new Perspective on Firm Boundaries, Dynamic Capabilities, and Competitive Advantage. We would like to encourage researchers to address the following questions: Does the development of Open Business Models require new ways of collaboration and firm openness? What is about sharing patents, like Tesla did? Does the management of Open Business Models require new organization- level activities or capabilities? What is about a new champion or role concepts? How should companies develop business models platform? Open Business Models often require new ways of value capture strategies? But which are successful?
Based on qualitative and quantitative analysis this session tries to give answers on the question whether it is useful for organizations to open up (more or less) their business model (processes, elements). Furthermore we will welcome research which also gives insights in single business cases, where an organization fails when opening up their business model. Overall the objective of this session is to stimulate the debate about business model openness beyond the current state of the art; like how becoming the “new Apple platform”.
