storical boundaries and political formations in relation to one another, acknowledges social and ethnic groups that inhabit both regions, and focuses on surveying the past and ongoing processes as well as trends and perspectives interdisciplinary. The program interconnects the disciplines of International Relations and Humanities, and provides interdisciplinary education in 1.history, 2.politics and security, 3.economics, public policy, environmental issues and media, 4.arts and culture, 5.intellectual history, religion and ideology, 6.literature and film. The program consists of 12 required and 44 elective courses. In addition to the required courses, the students must take 2-3 courses from each of the above listed areas as well as two semesters of Czech, Polish or Russian language. Language of instruction is English with elective discussion seminars in Russian in 14 of the program courses (as part of the initiative Foreign Language Across the Curriculum). AAU faculty includes lecturers and professors from the EU, the U.S., Latin America and Asia with 53 faculty members from Visegrad. Visiting professors will arrive from the Visegrad countries and also from the United States, Germany, Taiwan and support AAU faculty to develop further expertise through workshops, roundtables and panels. Field trips and visits to museums and galleries are included in the course curricula.
