🕯️ Once again this year, we held an ecumenical memorial service in honour of body donors. Their extraordinary decision allows our students to study anatomy at a depth and quality that would otherwise not be possible.
This gathering was a moment of respect, gratitude, and appreciation for those who have made a truly meaningful contribution to medical education

👟 What if running 42 km could change the way people think about addiction? Our student Michelle Singh did exactly that – she ran the Prague Marathon to raise funds for SANANIM and their football team's journey to the Homeless World Cup 2026.

🫂 Behind her run is a deeply personal story. She lost someone close to addiction, and she refused to let that loss be silent. She brings a powerful message about stigma, and a reminder that addiction is a health condition, not a weakness. 🚀 Every year, we take our Student Research conference to the next level!

🎤 This year's new addition was a recommendation to present in English for everyone — and it's great that the vast majority of participants rose to the challenge!

📊 The expert committee recommended 82 papers for presentation this year — 18 as talks and 64 as posters. A total of 8 papers were awarded across various categories. Full results are available on our website.

📚 We're opening the study room on weekends too — for all students of Charles University!

💡Phase separation has emerged as a key mechanism for organizing dynamic compartments within cells. In this lecture, Lindsay Case will present how phase separation contributes to the formation of integrin adhesion complexes and activates signaling pathways through kinase autophosphorylation, combining biochemical reconstitution and cell-based assays.

🧠 Lindsay Case is Assistant Professor of Biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where her research focuses on how cells regulate the spatial organization of signaling molecules at the plasma membrane to control downstream signaling.

🫦 Are you interested in the latest challenges in HIV and sexually transmitted infections? Come to a lecture by Jeffrey Birnbaum, a leading American public health expert.

🌈 Birnbaum is a faculty member at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn and Executive Director of the HEAT programme, which has been providing healthcare to young people aged 13–24 living with HIV since 1992. He is also a pioneer in care for transgender youth.
