Terénní exkurze 2026 je za námi 🌲🦌

Minulý týden jsme se studenty vyrazili na několikadenní terénní exkurzi zaměřenou na myslivost, management zvěře, ochranu přírody a moderní technologie využívané v praxi.

Během pěti dní jsme navštívili řadu lokalit a věnovali se tématům, která propojují výuku, výzkum i reálnou práci v terénu — od škod působených zvěří, managementu zemědělské krajiny a práce s loveckými psy až po monitoring pomocí fotopastí, dronů či ukázky odchytu a sledování živočichů.
Program zahrnoval například výběh vlků v Srní, návrat bobra evropského, rybí líheň na Borových Ladách, bezzásahová území NP Šumava, práci s fotopastmi, myslivecké tradice i návštěvu rezervace velkých kopytníků v Milovicích.

Děkujeme všem odborníkům, průvodcům a partnerům, kteří se na programu podíleli, a studentům za aktivní účast, otázky a zájem o praxi. Terénní výuka má smysl právě tehdy, když propojuje teorii s konkrétní krajinou, zvěří a lidmi, kteří se o ni starají.

🇬🇧 Field Excursion 2026 🌲🦌
Last week, we took our students on a multi-day field excursion focused on game management, wildlife management, nature conservation, and modern technologies used in practice.

Over five days, we visited a range of field sites and explored topics connecting teaching, research, and real-world fieldwork — from wildlife damage in forest stands, agricultural landscape management, and the work of hunting dogs to monitoring with camera traps and drones, as well as demonstrations of animal capture and monitoring.
The programme included, among others, the wolf enclosure in Srní, the return of the European beaver, the fish hatchery in Borová Lada, non-intervention areas in Šumava National Park, camera trap work, hunting traditions, and a visit to the large herbivore reserve in Milovice.

We would like to thank all experts, guides, and partners who contributed to the programme, as well as our students for their active participation, questions, and interest in practice. Field teaching is most valuable when it connects theory with real landscapes, wildlife, and the people who manage and protect them.

🌿 Natura Viva 2026

Studenti oboru KPT se již tradičně zúčastnili národní výstavy myslivosti Natura Viva 2026 v Lysé nad Labem. Studenti předváděli preparaci hmyzu a savců v expozici současné a moderní taxidermie realizované pod záštitou Výstaviště Lysá nad Labem a Salaba Taxidermy. V rámci expozice byl prezentován i studijní obor KPT a část expozice byla věnována úspěšným studentským instalacím z evropských soutěží. Velké díky patří i tajemníkovi FLD panu Ing. Martinu Prajerovi, Ph.D. za celkovou podporu studentské části expozice.

🇬🇧 As is tradition, students from the KPT program participated in the Natura Viva 2026 national hunting exhibition in Lysá nad Labem. The students demonstrated the taxidermy of insects and mammals in an exhibition of contemporary and modern taxidermy organized under the auspices of the Lysá nad Labem Exhibition Center and Salaba Taxidermy. The KPT program was also presented as part of the exhibition, and a section of the exhibition was dedicated to successful student installations from European competitions. A big thank you also goes to the FLD secretary, Ing. Martin Prajer, Ph.D., for his overall support of the student section of the exhibition.

☀️ Jako součást výuky zoologie proběhla v areálu demonstračního a experimentálního pracoviště katedry zahradní a krajinné architektury Libosad na kampusu ČZU praktická ukázka kroužkování ptáků pro studenty 1. ročníku myslivosti a taxidermie z katedry myslivosti a lesnické zoologie.

Kroužkování ptáků je důležitou metodou ornitologického výzkumu umožňující získávání údajů o migraci, prostorové aktivitě, délce života či reprodukční úspěšnosti jednotlivých druhů. Získaná data významně přispívají k poznání ekologie ptáků a představují důležitý podklad pro ochranu druhů i jejich biotopů. Výsledky jsou využívány mimo jiné při monitoringu změn krajiny, hodnocení dopadů klimatických změn a sledování dlouhodobého vývoje ptačích populací. 🐦‍⬛🐦🐦‍🔥

Cílem akce bylo seznámit studenty s problematikou bezpečné manipulace, kroužkováním, odchytem, určováním ptáků a v neposlední řadě i legislativou a návazností na myslivost. V rámci praktické části si studenti prošli instalací demonstrační nárazové sítě a akustických lákadel s ptačími hlasy. Během akce bylo okroužkováno 11 ptáků. Ačkoli prostředí Libosadu není pro odchyt ptáků svou strukturou ideální a počet jedinců byl nízký, druhové složení bylo poměrně pestré. Mezi obzvláště zajímavé okroužkované druhy patřily slavík obecný (Luscinia megarhynchos), pěnice pokřovní (Sylvia curruca) nebo rehek zahradní (Phoenicurus phoenicurus).

🇬🇧 As part of the zoology course, a practical demonstration of bird ringing was held at the Libosad demonstration and experimental facility of the Department of Landscape Architecture on the CZU campus for first-year students of Game Management and Taxidermy from the Department of Game Management and Wildlife Biology.

Bird ringing is an important method of ornithological research that enables the collection of data on migration, spatial activity, lifespan, and reproductive success of individual bird species. The data obtained contribute significantly to understanding bird ecology and provide an important basis for the conservation of species and their habitats. The results are also used in monitoring landscape changes, assessing the impacts of climate change, and tracking long-term trends in bird populations.

The aim of the event was to familiarize students with the principles of safe bird handling, ringing, capturing, species identification, and, last but not least, the relevant legislation and its connection to game management. During the practical part, students were introduced to the installation of a demonstration mist net and the use of acoustic lures with bird calls. A total of 11 birds were ringed during the event. Although the habitat structure of the Libosad area is not particularly suitable for bird capture and bird abundance was relatively low, the species composition was fairly diverse. Particularly interesting ringed species included the Common Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos), Lesser Whitethroat (Sylvia curruca), and Common Redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus).

✨ V tomto semestru si studenti konzervace přírodnin a taxidermie osvojili základy preparace ptáků v rámci předmětu Preparace ptáků I. a také základy preparace savců v předmětu Preparace savců I.

Během těchto cvičení studenti postupně zvládli celý proces práce s preparáty – od měření exemplářů, přes stahování a činění kůží pro účely taxidermy, až po finální realizaci dermoplastik a finishing savců i ptáků. 🐐🦆

Součástí praktické výuky bylo také seznámení se základy tvorby habitatů a práce s moderními materiály jako například Contour Sheet.

🇬🇧 This semester, students in the Natural History Conservation and Taxidermy program learned the basics of bird taxidermy in the course "Bird Taxidermy I" and the basics of mammal taxidermy in the course "Mammal Taxidermy I."

During these practical sessions, students gradually mastered the entire process of working with specimens—from measuring specimens, through skinning and tanning for taxidermy purposes, to the final creation of dermoplastics and finishing of both mammals and birds.

The practical instruction also included an introduction to the basics of habitat creation and working with modern materials such as Contour Sheet.

🐺🦊 Když je moc vlků a moc lišek…

Kolik zvěře je v krajině „tak akorát“? A kdo má nést odpovědnost za její rovnováhu?

V rozhovoru v aktuálním vydání Marianne Venkov & styl 05/2026 vysvětluje Ing. Miroslav Lotocký z KMLZ FLD, že příroda není neměnný ideální stav, ale dynamický systém, do kterého člověk dlouhodobě zasahuje — někdy pozitivně, jindy problematicky.

Tématem jsou výkyvy početnosti zvěře, návrat velkých šelem, vliv lišek na drobnou zvěř, nepůvodní druhy, křížení jelena siky s jelenem evropským i význam odborného mysliveckého hospodaření.
✨Hlavní myšlenka?
O krajině, zvěři a biodiverzitě nestačí rozhodovat podle emocí. Potřebujeme data, odbornost, odpovědnost a dlouhodobý pohled.

🐺🦊 When there are too many wolves and too many foxes…

How much wildlife in the landscape is “just right”? And who should be responsible for maintaining ecological balance?

In an interview published in the current issue of Marianne Venkov & styl 05/2026, Ing. Miroslav Lotocký from the FFWS explains that nature is not a fixed ideal state, but a dynamic system shaped by long-term human influence — sometimes beneficial, sometimes problematic.

The article discusses fluctuations in wildlife populations, the return of large carnivores, the impact of foxes on small game, non-native species, hybridisation between sika deer and red deer, and the importance of professional wildlife management.

✨The key message?
Decisions about landscapes, wildlife and biodiversity should not be driven solely by emotion. They require data, expertise, responsibility and a long-term perspective.

🌲 Myslivost v praxi: od moderních technologií po lovecké psy a myslivecké tradice

V dubnu se Jana Adámková zapojila do dvou odborných akcí, které propojily aktuální poznatky výzkumu s mysliveckou praxí.

Ve Zbraslavicích se ve dnech 22.–23. dubna uskutečnila odborná akce „Státní správa lesů a myslivosti v praxi správních orgánů“, pořádaná Odborem životního prostředí a zemědělství Krajského úřadu Středočeského kraje pro pracovníky obecních úřadů s rozšířenou působností.
Za FLD zde vystoupila Jana Adámková s přednáškou „Možnosti využití biometrie k evidenci ulovené zvěře“. Představila využití biometrických metod při evidenci ulovené spárkaté zvěře, konkrétně možnost identifikace jednotlivých kusů podle unikátní struktury vnější nosní tkáně, tzv. rhinaria. Tento přístup může významně přispět ke zpřesnění evidence úlovků a ke standardizaci sběru dat v terénu.

Součástí řešení je využití moderních metod hlubokého učení, včetně metody LoFTR, a také mobilní aplikace umožňující kontrolu kvality fotografií, standardizovaný sběr dat a automatický záznam metadat.

Na projektu se vedle FLD podílela také Masarykova univerzita v Brně, která zajišťovala IT a technologickou část řešení, a VÚLHM, jenž se podílel na odborném řešení projektu. Příspěvek vznikl v rámci projektu QK23020117 podpořeného Národní agenturou pro zemědělský výzkum.

Ve středu 24. dubna pak Jana Adámková vystoupila také na Mysliveckém semináři v Boršově, který připravil Řád sv. Huberta ve spolupráci s Okresním mysliveckým spolkem Svitavy jako součást chovatelské přehlídky OMS Svitavy.

V přednášce „Lovečtí psi při společných lovech na černou zvěř“ představila výstupy výzkumu týmu Sensory Biology Team, SEBIT, KMLZ. Výzkum probíhal při naháňkách v honitbách LESY ČZU v Kostelci nad Černými lesy a zaměřil se na pohyb a práci psů v lečích, jejich spolupráci, faktory ovlivňující výkon i rizika zranění při společných lovech.

Druhou část semináře doplnila přednáška Vlastimila Harta „Tradice české myslivosti, myslivecká mluva, mýty a omyly“, která nabídla pohled na myslivecké tradice, jazyk, zažité představy i některé nešvary v myslivecké praxi.

Obě akce ukázaly, že současná myslivost nestojí pouze na tradici, ale také na výzkumu, moderních technologiích a schopnosti přenášet nové poznatky přímo do praxe.

🇬🇧🌲 Game Management in Practice: From Modern Technologies to Hunting Dogs and Hunting Traditions

In April, Jana Adámková took part in two professional events that connected current research findings with game management practice.

On 22–23 April, the professional event “State Administration of Forests and Game Management in the Practice of Administrative Authorities” took place in Zbraslavice. It was organised by the Department of the Environment and Agriculture of the Regional Authority of the Central Bohemian Region for staff of municipalities with extended powers working in the field of state administration of forests and game management.

Representing the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, Jana Adámková gave a lecture entitled “Possibilities of Using Biometrics for the Registration of Hunted Game”. She presented the use of biometric methods in the registration of hunted ungulates, specifically the possibility of identifying individual animals based on the unique structure of the external nasal tissue, known as the rhinarium. This approach can significantly contribute to improving the accuracy of hunting records and standardising data collection in the field.

The solution also includes the use of modern deep learning methods, including LoFTR, as well as a mobile application enabling photo quality control, standardised data collection and automatic metadata recording. In addition to FLD, Masaryk University in Brno contributed to the project by providing the IT and technological part of the solution, while the Forestry and Game Management Research Institute contributed to the expert aspects of the project. The presentation was prepared within project QK23020117, supported by the National Agency for Agricultural Research.

On Wednesday, 24 April, Jana Adámková also spoke at the Game Management Seminar in Boršov, organised by the Order of St Hubert in cooperation with the Svitavy District Hunting Association as part of the OMS Svitavy breeding trophy exhibition.

In her lecture “Hunting Dogs during Driven Hunts for Wild Boar”, she presented research outputs of the Sensory Biology Team, SEBIT, from FLD CZU. The research was carried out during driven hunts in the hunting grounds of LESY ČZU in Kostelec nad Černými lesy and focused on the movement and work of dogs in drives, their cooperation, factors affecting their performance, and the risks of injury during collective hunts.

The second part of the seminar was complemented by a lecture by Vlastimil Hart, “Traditions of Czech Game Management, Hunting Terminology, Myths and Misconceptions”, which offered insight into hunting traditions, language, established assumptions and some persistent bad habits in hunting practice.

Both events showed that contemporary game management is based not only on tradition, but also on research, modern technologies and the ability to transfer new knowledge directly into practice.

🐶🦋🐢SeBiT (SensoryBiologyTeam) na mezinárodní konferenci RIN 2026

V polovině dubna se naše kolegyně z KMLZ aktivně zapojily do prestižní Animal Navigation Conference 2026 v anglickém Eghamu, jedné z klíčových světových událostí v oblasti orientace a smyslové biologie živočichů, která se koná jednou za 3 roky.

👩‍🔬 Tým SeBiT reprezentovaly Kateřina Benediktová, Hana Brinkeová a Eliška Macháčková.

Hana Brinkeová zde představila poster zaměřený na vliv magnetického pole a orientaci hmyzích kukel.

✨ Silným momentem celé konference bylo také osobní setkání s nositelem Nobelovy ceny Johnem O’Keefem, které přineslo cenné poznatky a inspiraci pro další výzkum.

🏛️ Kromě zajímavého vědeckého programu zaujalo i samotné starobylé prostředí Royal Holloway College. Podařilo se také navázat nové mezinárodní kontakty, které otevírají další možnosti spolupráce.

Účast na konferenci zároveň posílila mezinárodní viditelnost výzkumu FLD ČZU.

 
🐶🦋🐢The SeBiT Team at the RIN 2026 International Conference

In mid-April, researchers from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague actively participated in the prestigious Animal Navigation Conference 2026 in Egham, England, one of the world’s leading events in the field of animal navigation and sensory biology, held once every three years.

👩‍🔬 The SeBiT team was represented by Kateřina Benediktová, Hana Brinkeová, and Eliška Macháčková.

Hana Brinkeová presented a poster focusing on the influence of magnetic fields on the orientation of insect pupae.

✨ A highlight of the conference was also a personal meeting with Nobel laureate John O’Keefe, which provided valuable insights and inspiration for further research.

🏛️ In addition to the interesting scientific program, the historic setting of Royal Holloway College itself was captivating. We also succeeded in establishing new international contacts that open up further opportunities for collaboration.

Participation in the conference also strengthened the international visibility of CULS FLD research.
