Welcome, Dhul-Hijjah – The Sacred Season Begins
We often tend to look to Ramadan as the only time of the year when we can reset our faith and start anew. However, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) in His infinite mercy grants us another, immensely precious gift. Right now, we are entering the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah – a period that is the crown of the Islamic calendar.
The Almighty Allah swears in the Quran in Surah Al-Fajr: “By the dawn; And [by] ten nights...” (89:1–2). When the Creator swears by something in the Quran, He shows us the immense weight and importance of that matter. The great scholar Ibn al-Qayyim added that the days of Dhul-Hijjah are even better than all other days of the year – including the days of Ramadan.
This sacred season is not just any ordinary time. It is a time when the heavenly doors of mercy, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal are opened wide.
Dua for Today
“O Allah! You have allowed us to witness these sacred days of Dhul-Hijjah. We ask You to accept our deeds and to help us do more good, avoid sins, and remain loyal to Your pleasure during these days. Multiply our reward, forgive us our sins, and include us among those who will have their prayers answered on this day. Ameen.”
