🔍 Beyond Keywords: Rethinking How We Explore Scientific Knowledge
📚 As scientific output continues to grow, accessing relevant knowledge is becoming increasingly complex. BRT PhD student Antoine Bercy presents an innovative scientific database designed to improve how literature is explored, classified, and accessed, particularly within anaerobic digestion and biogas research.
💡 Moving beyond traditional keyword-based searches, his approach highlights how structured data, clearer classification, and interactive tools can help researchers navigate vast amounts of information more efficiently, while addressing key challenges such as inconsistent terminology and the reproducibility crisis.
🔬 This work closely aligns with BRT’s involvement in the OSIRIS project, where we contribute to advancing research transparency and reproducibility across the scientific community.
🌍 As science faces increasing pressure to remain transparent, accessible, and reliable, modernising how we search and share knowledge is not just an upgrade, it’s essential for tackling global challenges.

🌍 BRT Around the World | OSIRIS
The OSIRIS project brings together partners across Europe to address a key challenge in research and innovation: improving reproducibility. By promoting Open Science practices and evidence-based approaches, the project works to strengthen research quality, reliability, and trust in scientific outcomes.
🔬 OSIRIS focuses on understanding the underlying causes of low reproducibility and testing practical solutions in real research environments. By working with researchers, institutions, and stakeholders, the project aims to support a broader shift towards more transparent and robust research systems.
📢 Within the project, BRT, representing the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, leads Work Package 6 on Dissemination and Communication. This includes raising awareness of OSIRIS activities and results, engaging stakeholders, and supporting the long-term visibility and impact of the project’s outputs including the OSIRIS policy briefs and the Ten Tales of Reproducibility.
⚙ This work supports a broader transition towards more transparent, reliable, and impactful research systems.

🌍 Shaping the future of bioeconomy in Central & Eastern Europe
Recently, BRT Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubík and postdoctoral researcher Dr. Adam Hruška joined the final conference of the CEE2ACT Project in Budapest. The event brought together policymakers, researchers, and industry actors to reflect on progress and explore the next steps for circular bioeconomy strategies across the region.
🤝 The conference included presentations on national bioeconomy roadmaps and engaging in dynamic discussions with partners and stakeholders - highlighting the power of knowledge exchange in driving sustainable innovation.
🌱 While the event marked the closing of CEE2ACT, it also opened the door to new partnerships and ideas that will continue shaping the bioeconomy landscape in Europe.

🌱 Biogas and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Beyond Clean Energy
In a new think piece, BRT PhD student and junior researcher Phiona Jackline Mukisa explores how biogas goes far beyond energy, acting as a catalyst for health, agriculture, gender equality, and climate resilience across multiple SDGs.
🔍 From rural Uganda to global sustainability debates, her research highlights both the synergies and trade-offs of biogas systems, showing how real impact depends on inclusive design, financing, and local context.
🧠 Read the full think piece to learn how one simple technology can drive systemic change, and why a systems approach is key to unlocking its full potential.

🌍 BRT Around the World | BIO-CAPITAL
🌱 The BIO-CAPITAL project brings together partners across Europe to address a key global challenge: how to effectively finance biodiversity protection and restoration. By combining biodiversity research, sustainable finance, and geospatial technologies, the project explores ways to mobilise private investment for environmental sustainability.
👥 Through an interdisciplinary approach, BIO-CAPITAL works with stakeholders across sectors to develop and test solutions in real-world contexts, strengthening understanding of how financial systems can support biodiversity protection, restoration, and sustainable resource use.
🔬 Within the project, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, serves as the project coordinator, led by BRT Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubík. In this role, BRT oversees overall implementation and strategic direction, supporting coordination across partners and contributing to the integration of research, policy, and financial approaches.
🤝 In 2025, the BIO-CAPITAL consortium met in Prague, hosted by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, bringing partners together to align on progress and next steps. The meeting highlighted the collaborative effort behind translating research into practical and scalable solutions.
⚙ This work contributes to bridging the gap between biodiversity science and finance, supporting more effective and accessible pathways for investment in nature.
