We were very pleased to take part in the DYSKORUNKA conference 🧠✨, which took place on December 4 in Prague, and to introduce SPECTRUM-Special Needs Teaching Support materials to a wide audience, particularly special education professionals.

Markéta Peřestá representing IEPS, together with Nikol Kallmünzer from J. Gutha Jarkovského Primary School, presented our educational materials designed to support mainstream school teachers working with students with special educational needs 🤝

As part of the presentation, we also introduced our activity worksheets, with Nikol demonstrating practical exercises focused on sensory processing difficulties, including visual, sensory, and auditory challenges 👀👂🖐️.

Over the past years, our SPECTRUM-Special Needs Teaching Support partnership worked hard to support elementary school teachers in better recognizing and helping students with special educational needs (SEN). Together, we created:

✔️ Practical Guidelines explaining how children with SEN perceive the world
✔️ A Collection of Best Practices from real classrooms
✔️ Inclusive Activity Sheets ready for use with pupils
✔️ An online Educational Platform that brings all resources together and will remain available for teachers in the future 👉 https://projectspectrum.eu/cs/domu/

All materials are available in English, Greek, Spanish, and Czech, making them accessible to a wide range of teachers and schools. 🌍

Thanks to SPECTRUM, teachers now have more tools, inspiration, and strategies to build inclusive classrooms where every child can thrive.

Although the official project is ending, we will continue to share and use its results with our teachers, staff, and fellow educators. 💡👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

Last week, our partners from Spain Colegio Carlos V, GrowthCoop Ireland Instruction and Formation, De La Salle Churchtown and the Czech Republic ZŠ Strossmayerovo nám. came together in Prague for the final transnational meeting of the YoungLEAD project. It was a great chance to reflect on what we’ve built together and to plan the last steps.

A core of the discussions was our online learning platform https://www.youngleadproject.eu/learning-platform/ 💻📚 a space full of practical resources to help teachers strengthen leadership skills among pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, and its promotion within the schools. The pilot testing and webinars showed us how valuable it already is, and also gave us ideas to make it even more interactive and useful in the classroom.

We also looked ahead to the multiplier events happening this autumn, where we’ll be sharing results directly with other schools and the public across Europe.

An inspiring moment of the meeting was also a workshop experience with the UNESCO circle 🧑‍🤝‍🧑🔄 a practical tool which encourages intercultural communication, and we can use it further in our communities.

During the meeting, our Czech partner also welcomed us to ZŠ Strossmayerovo náměstí, where we joined a lesson and saw firsthand how inclusion and language learning are supported in everyday school life. 🏫👩‍🏫

On 17–18 September, we welcomed our partners in Prague for the final SPECTRUM-Special Needs Teaching Support project meeting.

Together we reflected on the results, shared experiences about organising and planning Multiplier Events, and discussed how to put pilot testing recommendations into practice.

The programme also included inspiring visits: to DYS-centrum Praha, z. ú., which supports children and adults with learning difficulties and behavioural disorders, to the primary school Základní škola J. Gutha-Jarkovského - oficiální stránka školy, and to the Centrum integrace dětí a mládeže, z. s.. These visits gave us the chance to exchange experiences and strengthen connections.

The meeting closed two years of joint work and underlined the practical value of the project outcomes for those working with children with special educational needs.
