AMO Lectures for Young Asia Scholars (ALYAS) is a unique project of lectures and seminars for senior university students, young researchers, and professionals with an interest in Asia affairs. The main objective of ALYAS is to deepen the understanding of political, economic, security and social issues of the Asia-Pacific region by offering current and future specialists an opportunity to interact directly with experts and practitioners with extensive knowledge of Asia in a small group setting.

ALYAS alumnus Jan Bejkovský has published a book on the Chinese economic system (in Czech). The book has four parts. Part one looks into global economic systems generally, the second part looks into ancient and imperial Chinese approaches towards the national economy. The third parts analyses impact of economic reforms in building a system of state capitalism in China and the last part looks into subsidies in the Chinese economy, unveiling contradictions with WTO rules and systemic inefficiency.

NEW CHINA PAPER OUT AT AMO!
China 🇨🇳 has been using a mix of ‘sticks’⚔️ and ‘carrots’🥕 in its approach towards Czechia 🇨🇿, Slovakia 🇸🇰, Poland 🇵🇱 and Hungary 🇭🇺 according to the new study of the multinational MapInfluenCE project.
Unique study of past 15 years of China‘s diplomacy approach towards the region looks at Chinese outreach across the different dimensions of relations, including government to government, public diplomacy and company overtures. The study also provides recommendations for the central European countries to bolster the health of their domestic political systems and effectively counter the negative effects of China’s influence.

Annual lecture on Taiwan's Options the Context of Trade War and Asian Regionalism was delivered by professor Hun-dah Su from National Taiwan University.
Dne 7. listopadu jsme ve Skautském institutu uspořádali přednášku s prof. Hung-dah Su z Národní tchaj-wanské univerzity o regioniální ekonomické integraci v jihovýchodní Asii a postavení Tchaj-wanu. Přednáška proběhla v rámci vzdělávacího programu ALYAS - AMO Lectures for Young Asia Scholars. ///
On 7th November, we were honored to host prof. Hungdah Su from National Taiwan University who gave a lecture on regional economic integradtion in South East Asia and Taiwan's position. The lecture was part of the ALYAS - AMO Lectures for Young Asia Scholars educational program.

The AMO Lectures for Young Asia Scholars Program ALYAS 2019 was successfully launched in Prague with lectures, workshops, discussions and work on case-studies.
