🎭 I’m thrilled to be part of the Allegra theatre play!
I coached Elisabeth Bower, who plays Anna, a Czech woman living in England. To portray the role authentically, she trained to develop a Czech accent in English. She also had to master a few Czech phrases, such as “Spí jako špalek” (“He’s sleeping like a log”). I really enjoyed coaching her, and we had a lot of fun together.
The experience also gave me the idea of making a special video about how a Czech accent sounds in English — perhaps that’s something you’d find interesting!

Dear learners,
I truly appreciate your support of my work and your journey of learning Czech with me.
Today, I would like to ask for a small favor. I have started a fundraising campaign on behalf of my dear friend Lucy, who has been struggling with serious health issues that currently prevent her from working.
If you can help, please consider making a small donation or sharing the campaign with others. Every bit of support means a lot, and we greatly appreciate it.
Go, Team Lucy!! 💛

What's the difference between "listy" and "listí"?
In English, these two words pretty much translate to "leaves" but the difference in Czech is that LISTY is plural, whereas LISTÍ is grammatically singular. What does it mean for us? If we want to say something like "There were leaves on the grass," we can say "Na trávě BYLY listy" or "Na trávě BYLO listí."
"Listí" is a collective noun. Learn more nouns you can use daily, like 🍪 cukroví, 👚 oblečení, 🪵dříví, or 🥖pečivo...

The concept of perfective and imperfective verbs is often difficult to grasp. I’m not surprised - just think about the verb “read.” In Czech, we always need more context before we can decide whether to use číst or přečíst.
In this lecture, I’ll explain how it works as briefly as possible - follow me!

Thank you! Some of you have been channel members for over a month and have received a new badge - congratulations! 🎉
It has always been exciting to make YouTube videos for you every week, but with your extra support in this way, it’s even more rewarding.
By the way, the first image shows Říp Mountain, where—according to legend—our forefather Čech and his people arrived. After seeing how beautiful and fertile the land was, they decided to settle there and make it their home.
In the second picture, you can see the famous Charles Bridge, which was completed in 1402.
