Thank you to everyone who was part of it and helped to create the unique atmosphere of this year´s anniversary edition of ArtCamp.

What if changing your perspective could change the way you experience the world?

As the 20th edition of ArtCamp Summer School comes to a close, we're pleased to share one more inspiring conversation with one of this week's international lecturers.

Ishu Han, a visual artist from 女子美術大学･女子美術大学短期大学部 / Joshibi University of Art and Design in Tokyo, invited participants to question something we usually take for granted: the way we see the world.

Throughout the week, workshop participants experimented with wearable objects that subtly altered their perception and physical experience of space. Inspired by the ideas of Japanese artist and architect Shūsaku Arakawa, they discovered that even a slight shift in perspective can spark curiosity, creativity, and entirely new ways of thinking.

In our latest interview, Ishu explains why there is no single "correct" way to experience reality, how our bodies shape our perception, and why embracing a little instability can become a powerful creative tool.

What if creativity wasn't a skill, but a way of living?

During the second week of our ArtCamp Summer School, we were delighted to welcome Daniel Hoernemann-Walbrodt, a German artist and educator whose work reimagines the place of art in contemporary society.

For Daniel, creativity doesn't begin in a studio or end in a gallery. It belongs in everyday life—in schools, workplaces, public spaces, and the way we interact with one another. His artistic practice shows that creativity is not reserved for artists, but is a fundamental human capacity.

In our latest interview, Daniel reflects on bringing art into unexpected environments, from IT companies to public administration, and explains why nurturing creativity is essential for addressing today's social challenges. He also shares what he hoped participants would take away from his ArtCamp workshop: a deeper awareness of their own creative potential.

Creative process first. The artwork follows.

One of the highlights of the first week of our ArtCamp Summer School was welcoming Dejan Slavuljica from the Akademija likovnih umjetnosti Sarajevo / Academy of Fine Arts. His participation was made possible through the EUPeace Alliance, which is opening new opportunities for collaboration between European art schools and their students.

Dejan explains why the creative process matters more than the finished image. He encourages young artists to question conventions, think beyond the two-dimensional surface, and see illustration as a medium that can transcend space, time, and format.

As a teacher, he also reflects on today's generation of students. While they have access to more tools and technologies than ever before, he believes the most important step remains the same: to begin. To accept a challenge, trust your own abilities, and finish what you start. Sometimes, a little humour in the studio helps too.

"Every painting begins with a question."

Last week, participants of our ArtCamp Summer School had the opportunity to learn from Owain McGilvary, artist and lecturer at the The Glasgow School of Art.

In our latest interview, Owain reflects on painting as a process of curiosity rather than certainty, the importance of experimentation, and why asking the right questions can be more valuable than finding immediate answers. His artistic practice moves across painting, drawing, collage, and moving image, bringing together personal stories, archives, and collaboration.

We are grateful to have welcomed Owain to Sutnarka and hope his workshop inspired our participants to embrace curiosity in their own creative practice.

The countdown is on! 💛

This Monday, the 20th edition of ArtCamp Summer School begins, and our faculty will once again become a place of creativity, inspiration, and international exchange.

To celebrate this special anniversary, we're excited to share a first glimpse of this year's ArtCamp merchandise. 🎉

Over the next three weeks, around 430 participants will join 41 art and design courses, learning from artists and educators from the Czech Republic and around the world. We are especially looking forward to welcoming guest lecturers including Dejan Slavuljica (Akademija likovnih umjetnosti Sarajevo / Academy of Fine Arts), Owain Train McGilvary (The Glasgow School of Art), Daniel Hoernemann-Walbrodt, Federico Chericoni, and Ishu Han (Joshibi University of Art and Design / 女子美術大学･女子美術大学短期大学部), together with many other inspiring artists.

For 20 years, ArtCamp has connected people across generations, disciplines, and cultures through art. We can't wait to welcome familiar faces, meet new ones, and start another unforgettable creative summer at Sutnar Faculty.

From the exhibition walls to the graduation stage. 🎓✨

Over the past weeks, we celebrated two unforgettable milestones of this academic year.

Our Bachelor's and Master's Exhibition showcased the creativity, courage, and dedication of our graduating students, transforming the faculty into a vibrant space full of ideas, experiments, and inspiring conversations.

And now, those projects have found their final chapter as our graduates crossed the stage to receive their diplomas.

Here is a small selection of moments from the graduation ceremonies - a celebration of talent, perseverance, and new beginnings.

Congratulations to Renáta Fučíková, head of the Didactic Illustration Studio / Ateliér didaktické ilustrace at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, on receiving the prestigious Golden Ribbon Award / Zlatá stuha for Outstanding Contribution to Literature for Children and Young People.

The award recognizes not only her exceptional work as an illustrator and author, but also her long-standing dedication to teaching and mentoring new generations of artists.

This year's Golden Ribbon Awards also celebrated the success of Sutnar Faculty graduates. Among the nominees were Tomáš Staněk, Marita Kelbl, Kateřina Illnerová, and Veronika Bilkova, who won the award in the non-fiction category for children and young people with her book Mr Martinů.
