Drumming is a cool word,

-the action of playing a drum or drums.
"he took up drumming in his teens"

-a continuous rhythmic noise.
"the drumming of hooves"

In this picture you can see my cousins in the act of drumming, however, the photographer of this picture could probably hear the drumming of the rain.

"Drumming has been a part of our culture for as long as we can remember." (In this sentence we see the word drumming being used as a gerund!)
