Much to our frustration, we have decided to postpone the 25th Litomysl Masterclass until 2021, when it will take place from July 18th to August 8th with the same teachers and staff as planned for this year.
As most EU countries start opening up for limited international travel, those living in the EU would probably be able to travel to Czechia this summer.
However, here in the US all states have started opening up while covid-19 cases are still on the rise in many of them, and few or no travel restrictions across state borders are in place. Considering the low levels of testing, contact tracing and taking other preventive measures in order to bring down infection levels everywhere in the US, travelling through major US airports would be playing Russian roulette with US Litomysl participants' health.
I, Michael Malmgreen and the Litomysl staff regret having to cancel the Masterclass this year out of an abundance of caution and hope that those who applied for this year will apply again for the 2021 Masterclass.
I will post an update here and an email notification will be sent out once the Masterclass website, www.litomyslmasterclass.org, has been updated to allow for 2021 applications being made.
