Charles University Gold Commemorative Medal for our Dean🏅
At yesterday’s meeting of the Scientific Council of Charles University, our faculty dean, Prof. Jiří Manďák, received the Charles University Gold Commemorative Medal for his exceptional contributions to the development of the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové and for promoting its reputation worldwide. Rector Jiří Zima praised his many years of work at the Department of Surgery and in the faculty’s leadership.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved award.❤

Last week, the 72nd annual Student Scientific Conference took place at the Educational Center! The committees selected from dozens of high-quality projects, and the final decision was far from easy 👏

🏆In the section of theoretical and pre-clinical disciplines, Lukáš Vomastek won with his project Study of Differences Between Adipocytes Derived from Isolated Preadipocytes of Brown and White Mouse Adipose Tissue.

🏆In the clinical disciplines section, Jiří Chalupník succeeded with his project Pathological Stage as the Dominant Predictor of Biochemical Recurrence After Robot-Assisted Prostatectomy.

🏆The award in the bachelor’s section was presented to Veronika Oudová for her project Care of Venous Access Devices from the Perspective of Nurses in Home Care Agencies. 💙

Saman Faizollah Zadeh Ardebili, a 5th-year medical student, represented CU MED HK at the prestigious European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) 2026 congress held in Paris 🇫🇷🫀

The conference brought together more than 7,000 experts in cardiology and electrophysiology from around the world. Saman presented a project focused on the prognostic impact of hyperthyroidism and thyroid hormone levels on the risk of atrial fibrillation recurrence after catheter ablation.

🏃‍♀️🚴‍♂️⛳️ Last week, we got moving during the Rector’s Sports Day! More than 260 students and staff members from our faculty and Faculty of Pharmacy joined this year’s event filled with sports and a great atmosphere. 🙌

Some participants joined the traditional run, walk or bike ride to Vysoké Chvojno, while others competed in badminton, beach volleyball, squash, tennis and more. The programme also included the annual golf tournament, Taebo, Zumba and fun activities such as pétanque, croquet and co****le.

Thank you to everyone who joined, competed, supported others or simply came to enjoy the atmosphere. See you again next year! ✨

🎭 One building. One final party. And a night we won’t forget. ❤️
On Wednesday, May 13, we said goodbye to the Building on Šimkova Street with a faculty carnival. Hundreds of students, staff members, alumni and friends of the faculty joined us for one last celebration, turning the building into a place full of costumes, music, dancing and memories for the evening. ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event so special – the SboreCheck UKHK choir, Canalis Analis and Kantáre bands, DJ Kraus, IFMSA CZ - Hradec Králové and our event partners for supporting the programme and raffle. 👏

On Saturday, 2 May, Adalbertinum was filled with cultures from all around the world. 🌍✨ International students from our faculty and International Student Union (ISU-LFHK) prepared another edition of the popular Culture Day, where they presented more than ten countries through traditional food, customs, clothing and a wonderful atmosphere. 🤩

It was a day full of tasting, meeting and discovering different cultures, as well as a lovely opportunity to spend time together outside the classroom.

Culture Day reminded us that our faculty is not only a place to study medicine, but also a place where people, stories, traditions and friendships from all corners of the world come together.
