[ES MS] Presentation of the project at the 6th annual scientific conference ‘Research in Education and Training: Remote learning and teaching - experiences, problems, perspectives.'
The conference took place on Thursday, 23 September 2021, at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Ljubljana.
The main goal of the ‘Research in Education and Training’ annual scientific conference was the dissemination of research results and the exchange of experiences, identification of key issues, challenges and obstacles in education as well as the promotion and development of research in general.
I briefly presented the idea of the project “Culture knowledge and language competences as a means to develop the 21st century skills” to the participants of the conference and then continued explaining and showing parts of the Moodle e-learning platform. I chose different modules to show the different kinds of tasks, different languages and how the system functions. I also told them about the experiences of the participants of our piloting activities as this was particularly interesting to the conference participants, especially as our adult learners were participants with different obstacles. In general, the participants of the conference were quite impressed with all the word done and found the learning platform very useful, especially for adult learners.

[Pro Scientia Publica, Poland] On September 11, 2021, Patrycja Karpińska and dr Kamil Błaszczyński, two members of the Polish team, participated in the international scientific conference Education Culture, and Society in Wrocław, Poland, with their presentation titled “Lifelong learning guidelines, or several reflections on teaching adults with barriers to learning.” The conference gathered participants from 27 different academic centres from all around the world. In their presentation, Patrycja and Kamil presented the main aims of the project, the platform with the courses and the outcomes of the project, especially the lifelong learning guidelines, as well as some of the results from quantitative analysis of the questionnaires filled in by the learners who piloted the courses

The final meeting of the participants of the Erasmus + project "Culture knowledge and language competencies as a means to develop the 21st century skills" is being held in Časlav, the Czech Republic. After three years of work extended due to the pandemic, a consortium of partner countries, Latvia, Slovenia, Romania, the Czech Republic and Poland, has come to the end of its long-standing collaboration on other projects. During the meeting, there will be analyzed in detail all outcomes that were set at the beginning of the project:
-European cultural heritage and skills development course,
- multilingual mixed language learning- course for adult learners,
-developing the skills of adult students of the 21st century.
The course is based on Europe's rich cultural heritage. Thus, in addition to developing language and intercultural competence, future participants will be exposed to broad cultural knowledge and will raise their cultural knowledge and awareness.
We hope that it will find its implementation in the public as well!

[SAPIENTIA, ROMANIA] Learning Languages through European Intangible Cultural Heritage – Project-closing Event at Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, Miercurea Ciuc

On June 16, 2021, the Campus of Miercurea Ciuc of Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania hosted the closing event of the third Erasmus+ project that the Department of Human Sciences participated in. The project is entitled Cultural knowledge and language competencies as a means to develop the 21st century skills (No. 2018-1-HR01-KA204-047430), and it aims to enhance language learning and teaching primarily for adult learners, to popularize the linguistic diversity of the European Union and intercultural awareness, as well as to develop 21st century key skills and competences, like problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking, learning strategies, cooperation, communication, IT skills.
Bi- and multilingualism is one of the elementary conditions of our contemporary life, linguistic, intercultural, and digital competencies play a significant role in finding a workplace. This is also the central concept of our project, within which teachers from partner institutions in six European countries (Czechia, Croatia, Poland, Latvia, Romania and Slovenia) created a colorful learning material in ten languages, based on the intangible cultural heritage of the partner countries that can be used both online and in face-to-face education. The language course is interactive, it is based on gamification principles, and it contains several video and audio recordings, online tasks, and games, through which it not only helps to develop 21st century competences, but learners can find out interesting details about the rich European cultural heritage. Participants from several adult teaching institutions, non-governmental organizations, local authorities, institutions dealing with people belonging to disadvantaged groups were present.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economic, Socio-Human Sciences and Engineering, Dr. Ede Lázár greeted the participants on the project-closing event. His welcoming words were followed by the presentation of Dr. Zsuzsanna Ajtony, head of the Department of Humanities, also manager of the Sapientia project team, who introduced the project and its methodology. Two project members, Dr. Zsuzsanna Dégi és Dr. Enikő Tankó presented the English, Hungarian and Romanian course material developed by the team, relying primarily on the Transylvanian intangible cultural heritage. Due to the pandemic situation, the course could only be briefly tested by the attendees on the mobile phones, and everybody present showed great interest in the rich material and would be willing to use it in the future, according to their own needs.

[TURIBA, LATVIA] Multiplier Event of Erasmus+ project „Cultures and Languages” held at Turiba University
On 28 June 2021 a project multiplier event was held at Turiba University. Educators of language and culture courses from various education institutions attended the event – University of Latvia, EKA University of Applied Sciences, Latvian Academy of Culture, Riga Technical University, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Riga State Technical School, Riga Secondary School No.64, Riga Style and Fashion Vocational School, English, German and Spanish teachers from adult language education firms „Valodu mape”, „Roks”, „DialogsPro”, representatives of the Latvian Association of Tourism Information Organizations „Latturinfo”, Employers’ Confederation of Latvia, the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Latvia, Tourism Information Centre of Vecumnieki, publishing company „DR dizains”, „Janne” Ltd., Ltd. „Bulduru DU”, Ltd. „Active LV” and others.
During the multiplier event the participants were introduced with the project outputs created:
The English language blended-learning course for adult learners “European Cultural Heritage and skills development course” comprising 18 modules both for independent learning and for learning under the guidance of a language teacher.
“Culture based multilingual blended-learning language course for adult learners” targeted at learning European cultures containing 18 modules in 9 languages: Latvian, German, French, Slovenian, Croatian, Czech, Polish, Romanian and Hungarian.
Lifelong learning guidelines for educators of adult learners created based on the results of international research conducted within the project.
The participants learnt the main methodologies of the project, the design and creation of the Learning Management System, the curricula designed, the various tasks created, etc. In order to learn how the learning platform functions, have a closer look at the tasks and materials created and get ready for using them in their language and culture teaching classes they also had hands-on-experience in specially organised workshops in computer labs.
The multiplier event was an excellent opportunity for the participants to exchange experience, network and foster further collaboration in language and culture teaching/learning.

[Pro Scientia Publica] On Monday, 7 June 2021, the Polish partner organized the Multiplier event. The event counted with the participation of 42 participants/stakeholders.
Participants had an excellent perception of the event in general. Their reactions to most of the presented themes were extraordinary, they were motivated and interested. This is confirmed by high marks given during the evaluation.

[TUSDU, CROATIA] On Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 9:00 AM in the premises of the Student Center Dubrovnik, the project coordinator of the Erasmus + project "Cultural knowledge and language competencies as a means to develop the 21st century skills" organizes a multiplier event in which will be presented three-year work partners from Latvia, Slovenia, Romania, the Czech Republic and Poland. Our aim is to present the material and point out the possibilities that the platform offers especially because it refers to learning foreign languages ​​based on the content of intangible cultural heritage of the mentioned partner countries, including ours.

This is an excellent opportunity to show another result of our School's work within the Erasmus + project on how to learn innovatively about intangible cultural heritage and enrich language knowledge ( EN, HR, FR, LV, SI, DE, RO, HU, CZ and PL).

[TURIBA, LATVIA] Project Presentation at International Scientific Conference at Turiba University, Latvia
On 20 – 21 April 2021, Professor Ineta Luka from Turiba University, Latvia, participated in the XXII international scientific conference “Artificial Intelligence and Green Thinking” organised by Turiba University, Latvia. Prof. Ineta Luka gave a presentation “Development of adult learners 21st century skills in culture-based blended-learning course” focussing on Project Output 1 from teachers’ and learners’ perspective. In the presentation the conference participants were introduced with the project aims, idea, content, the English language course, the platform and the course evaluation, as well as with the development of learners’ 21st century skills in it.
