ENGLISH STUDENT CLUB X.A. is pleased to announce the eighth International Anglophone Conference for Young Scholars ANGLOPHONIA: POSSESSION, which will take place FROM 15TH TO 17TH MAY 2025 at the FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES IN ZAGREB, Croatia. The conference will provide a platform for young scholars (BA, MA and PhD students, graduates and scholars who have recently obtained a PhD) to discuss their works in a friendly, yet professional environment. The aim of the conference is to connect young and promising researchers who share an interest in all areas of Anglophone studies by providing them with an opportunity to exchange information, ideas, and views.

DEAS Research Seminar - Autumn 2024 “Testing a sociolinguistic model for its predictive power: An empirical approach to Schneider’s Dynamic Model of World Englishes”
The Department of English and American Studies was established as one of the founding departments of the newly established Faculty of Arts in 1920. The first professor and chair of the English Department (anglický seminář) was the literary scholar Professor František Chudoba (1878-1941). Currently more than 600 students study in the Department, pursuing degrees in one of our 7 degree programs (1 Bachelor’s, 4 Master’s and 2 doctoral).
