Islamic doctrine makes special provisions for Jews and Christians, who are often referred to as “People of the Book/Scripture”.

Most of Mohammed’s violent jihad was directed towards Jews and Christians.

Other Kafirs (non-Muslims) faced with Mohammed’s army had only three choices: convert to Islam, or be at the mercy of Mohammed and other jihadis (i.e. be killed or become slaves).

Jews and Christians had an extra way of submitting – becoming dhimmis.

It all began with Mohammed invading Khaibar and other Jewish forts. Upon capturing them, he signed treaties with the Jews (and later Christians) so that they became semi-slaves called dhimmis. The Jews would work the land and give half of the profits to Mohammed (Sira, Ishaq 764; Hadith, Bukhari 2320).

This poll tax is called jizya. If they pay this tax, dhimmis may not be attacked, killed or robbed by Muslims. Those who paid the jizya were under the protection of Islam (Sira, Ishaq 902).

Is that all? No. Dhimmis:

■ Must give up their fundamental religious beliefs

Palestine is probably one of the most contested pieces of real estate in human history. It was once part of the Akkadian Empire. Later, it was an important trading partner and tributary state of Egypt before the Bronze Age collapse in the 12th century BCE, out of the ashes of which rose the kingdoms of Judaea and Israel. No kingdom lasts forever, and beginning in the 8thcentury BCE, this coveted land fell over and over to a series of conquerors: Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans. In fact, it is because of the Roman conquest of Israel and Judaea that the region is called Palestine today [...]

A political and class system was created that separated people into groups and discriminated against them based on religion, creating an upper class of Muslims and a lower class of everyone else in accordance with Islamic political doctrine and Mohammed’s example. Political Islam also appropriated the most holy site in Judaism, the Temple Mount, a highly psychologically demoralizing move meant to send a clear message about who was in control [...]

Whenever the causes of Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM for short) are discussed in the mainstream discourse, a statement is always made to the effect that FGM can’t be Islamic because it’s not mentioned in the Koran.

But is it true that the Koran makes no mention of FGM? And if so, does it mean that FGM is not Islamic? To answer these questions, we first need to know what makes an act or belief Islamic.

The will of Allah is the Koran; the example of Mohammed is in the Sunna. The Sunna is everything Mohammed did, said, was, and tacitly approved of (noticed, and did not criticize). The Sunna is found in two texts: the Sira—the life of Mohammed, told in chronological order—and the hadiths, eyewitness reports of Mohammed’s acts, speech, character and approvals. If a belief or practice is in the Koran, it is Islamic. If a belief or practice is in the Sunna it is Islamic.

So, is FGM an Islamic practice or not?

On June 17, 2025, the German news organization Deutsche Welle (DW) published an article titled “Germany sees record number of anti-Muslim incidents in 2024” (1) , drawing attention to an alleged increase in harassment of Muslims based on a report by CLAIM Alliance Against Islamophobia and Anti-Muslim Hate.

At CSPII Monitor, we understand the seriousness of such allegations. At the same time, it is the responsibility of news organizations to report accurately.

The article has several flaws:

- It uses CLAIM’s terminology (“anti-Muslim racism”, “Islamophobic incidents”) without questioning definitions. Muslim is not a race. Phobia is a psychiatric condition, requiring professional diagnosis. These terms are inaccurate and confusing.

- CLAIM's report does not distinguish between criticism of Islam as an ideology and harassment or attacks on Muslims as individuals. This is a serious conflation of two very different things, which can delegitimize legitimate political speech by counting it as “racism.”

- CLAIM blurs the line between actual harassment and subjective fear. Subjective experiences are integrated into the dataset, treated as valid incidents on par with physical violence, threats, and harassment.

- The report does not show whether the growth comes from actual incidents or from expanded data collection, media campaigns, or self-reporting. There's also no comparison and context, are Germans experiencing more violent crime overall? How does this compare with anti-Jewish hate crimes? [...]

DW’s reporting reproduced all the above flaws without due diligence or critical reasoning.

We contacted DW and the article’s authors with a request for clarification and a review of the use of “Islamophobia” and “anti-Muslim racism” in editorial standards. As of today, we have not received a response.

We urge all media and journalists to report accurately and critically. It is important to understand Political Islam (the 51% of Islamic doctrine that deals with how to treat non-Muslims) and that all Islamic organizations represent Islamic political doctrine.

Our research has found that:

■ the number of Islamic organizations in Switzerland has been growing since 1958, and has doubled in the last 20 years
■ 102 Islamic organizations were active in 47 Swiss localities in 2022
■ since 2005, at least one new Islamic organization has been registered in Switzerland every year
■ in the decade 2011–2020 an average of 6 new Islamic organizations have been registered each year—1.4 times more than in the previous decade. If this trend continues, 80 more Islamic organizations can be expected to be registered in Switzerland by 2030

The CSPII Research team conducted a study of Islamic organizations in Switzerland. With data reliability as our top priority, we analyzed a reliable source: the Swiss Federal Registry of Commerce.

CSPII developed a methodology for extracting data on Islamic organizations from this registry using keywords to obtain a relevant sample. A total of 23 key words such as Islamic, Muslim, Koran, Mosque and the corresponding French, German and Italian translations were used. The maps visualize a general picture of how Islamic organizations are distributed across Switzerland over 64 years since 1958.

These findings can help scientists, politicians, political analysts, government officials and community leaders better understand the situation in Switzerland, and ensure that their decisions are well-informed when carrying out state planning [...]

In a diplomatic effort, U.S. President Donald Trump, in close partnership with Israel, has overseen an agreement with Hamas that will see the release of Israeli hostages and a formal ceasefire to end the Gaza war [...]

This is not the first time peace agreements in the region have been proclaimed. Notable examples include the Abraham Accords and the Oslo Accords. However, the region has a documented history of such agreements being broken:

■ The Abraham Accords have faced consistent challenges and criticism, particularly from parties who subsequently refrained from or undermined normalization efforts.

■ The Oslo Accords saw repeated violations, and the breakdown in mutual trust remains a core obstacle to lasting peace.

The Root Cause of Breaking Treaties with non-Muslims:

The Treaty of al-Hudaybiya (628 CE), an Islamic historical precedent embodied in the Sunna (Mohammed’s biography and deeds), shows that Mohammed annulled the same treaty with the Quraysh tribe when he determined the circumstances were more advantageous [...]

The current U.S. President Trump-brokered arrangement naturally raises hope for an end to hostilities and restoration of security for Israeli citizens. However, the historical and doctrinal record underscores the need for informed caution [...]

On June 26, 2025, ABC Australia published an article titled “If we can think together, maybe we can live together,” (1) celebrating the history of philosophical collaboration among Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

At CSPII Monitor, we welcome any effort to foster honest and respectful exchange. However, we also believe that the public deserves accurate information — especially when it concerns political ideologies embedded in religious frameworks.

Unfortunately, the article:

- Refers to Islam as part of a shared “Abrahamic tradition,” without acknowledging that Islamic scriptures — unlike Jewish or Christian ones — explicitly declare Judaism and Christianity to be corrupt, and that Islamic law does not tolerate doctrinal equality with non-Muslims.

- Mentions “Islamophobia” alongside antisemitism, ignoring the weaponization of this term to silence doctrinal critique - see our Islamophobia Report (2).

- Misrepresents the nature of “Islamic philosophy,” omitting that leading Muslim philosophers were often condemned by Islamic authorities.

We contacted ABC and the article’s authors with a request for clarification. As of today, we have not received a response.

We urge media outlets to ensure that goodwill is matched by rigor and that public understanding of Islamic doctrine is not compromised for the sake of idealistic narratives.

Is Israel Legal? Do the Jewish People Have the Right to the Land of Israel?

PRESS RELEASE
CSPII Releases Study on the Legal Foundations of Israel and the Origins of the Name “Palestine”

Prague, Czech Republic (Oct. 8, 2025) — The Center for the Study of Political Islam International (CSPII) announces the release of a landmark study. Drawing on a wealth of historical documents and archaeological evidence, this comprehensive study examines the millennia-long presence of the Jewish people in the land that now constitutes the State of Israel—beginning as early as 1200 BC—and traces developments up to the issuance of internationally recognized legal documents affirming Jewish sovereignty [...]

In England, Cambridge’s Woolf Institute for interfaith relations, together with the Aga Khan Centre for education on Muslim Civilizations, brought together a Jew and a Muslim to lecture about what the Koran really says about Jews. The lecture [1], titled “What the Qur'an really says about Jews, Judaism and the Bible” by Rick Sopher and Abdulla Galadari, was also posted on JewishNews [2] and a major Israeli news site IsraelHayom [3] (in Hebrew).

At CSPII Monitor, we welcome any effort to foster honest and respectful interfaith dialogue. However, we also believe the public deserves accurate information — especially when it concerns a political ideology embedded in the religious framework of Islam.

Unfortunately, the lecturers:

■ Claim "Koran does not require perpetual enmity against Jews or Judaism" – but this is contradicted by dozens of Koran verses (e.g. Koran 7:167, 5:64, 5:51). Also, Koran obligates to follow the Hadith and there are dozens of hadiths requiring enmity against Jews (e.g. Hadith Bukhari 2926) in addition to the Koranic verses.

■ Claim that Koran 5:55 contradicts the idea that 5:51 says to not be friends with Kafirs (non-Muslims). This is incorrect. Believers are those who believe also in Mohammed, thus, not Jews. Also, Koran 3:28 says to only pretend to be friends in case the Muslim is afraid of the Kafir.

■ Present Koran 3:64 as proof of Islamic call for co-existence with Jews and Christians. Yet, this verse is often used to attack the central tenets of Christianity. Chronologically, it is from the early Medina time, and was abrogated by later verses calling to fight Kafirs until they submit to Islam.

Knowledge of information from the Koran, Hadith, and the life of Mohammed can be used as arguments to refuse Islamic requests that are contrary to a state's laws and/or the interests and safety of its citizens.

The principle of darura allows the Islamic community to avoid performing acts prescribed by fundamental Islamic texts without committing a sin.

The principle of darura is universal and can apply to the whole range of actions in Islam, from domestic to religious to political. Referring to the principle of darura, a Muslim can adapt to any conditions and:

* skip obligatory prayers
* not observe Ramadan and the rules of eating related to Ramadan
* pray without special conditions
* eat any kind of food
* not adhere to the recommended dress code

It can be used by educational institutions, sport organizers, penitentiary services, law enforcement, military, in the business environment, etc.

a) learn how to apply this principle in your situation
b) share it with others to help them with their situation
