The making of a healing studio out of a timber frame and light clay straw infill!

This technique combines the use of a minimum amount of clay and a maximum use of straw to create walls that are highly insulated. The clay slurry is poured over straw and mixed thoroughly to ensure a homogenised material. The straw must be sticky, but with the minimum of clay to make it stick. Then is tamped into wooden molds to create the walls.

This project will be open through all August for people who want to become more familiar with this technique and generally natural building. Food will ve provided and breaks in the pool!

Today's work on the grand bathroom of Yiannis at Ayia Marina
Timber frame baring the roof weight. Wattle and daub walls ( Weaved reeds on the wooden frame covered with cob).

A great choice of a technique to create thin walls. Especially for cases where the owner wants to build relatively fast and cheaply. Ideal also for people who are not experienced with building, as the frame gives you the reference points of building straight walls.
