Kimonos Art Center

Kimonos Art Center Kimonos Art Center is an art school and cultural events' producer in Paphos, Cyprus. It is above all a meeting place.

Kimonos Art Center aims to gather in its space a variety of techniques and make them available to the public through workshops and art classes. Our team, consists of Charalambos Margaritis, Sylvia Nicolaides, Yiannis Sakellis and Nicolas Iordanou. Printmaking, painting, drawing, photography, video art, animation and cementography are just some of them. Considering that the process of creation is an existential unchallengeable human right, a need, a necessary condition for ontological integration and perhaps the most important spiritual exercise, our goal is to create the conditions under which whoever wants or cares (or anyone who has nothing else to do) can deal with one or more forms of creativity or just browse through them, be inspired and learn. It is intended to become a center for creativity, experimentation, search and discovery, exchange of ideas and suggestions, a place of inspiration and good company. One of our goals is also to promote the emerging ideas and images from the local creators in Cyprus, as well as artists from around the world. It is an attempt to create in Paphos something that should have existed since long ago. Kimonos Art Center aims to offer the possibility to create.

Another season of Garden Screenings at Attikon has come to an end, and we would like to thank everyone who joined us for memorable evenings of cinema under the stars.

Each year, we learn, evolve and work to make the experience even better, bringing together great films, special encounters and people who genuinely love cinema.

This year, we had the particular pleasure and honour of welcoming acclaimed filmmaker Yannis Economides. Following the screening of The Ballad for a Pierced Heart, we spoke with him about cinema, the creative process and his remarkable filmmaking journey. We are deeply grateful for his presence, generosity and the valuable knowledge and insights he shared with us.

A special thank you to Black Lemon for their valuable contribution to this memorable evening, as well as for organising and filming the Q&A.

We would also like to thank the Department of Contemporary Arts for sponsoring this year’s programme, and Air Balloon Digital Studio, the Petreidion Foundation and Pafos Municipality for their generous support.

Above all, thank you to everyone who joined us at Attikon and brought each screening to life.

See you again next year, under the stars. 🎬

We are ending this year’s Attikon Garden Screenings among the stars. 🌌🚀👨‍🚀

For our final night, we present Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, a monumental work of science fiction and one of the most influential films ever made.

A meditation on human evolution, technology and the mysteries beyond our understanding, Kubrick’s masterpiece remains as bold, hypnotic and unsettling as it was in 1968. Its scale, silence, music and unforgettable imagery were made to be experienced on the big screen.

Join us for one final summer night in the garden as we bring this year’s cinematic journey to a close.

Some hearts break. Others leave a crime scene.

Yannis Economides’ Ballad for a Pierced Heart is a dark and explosive tale of love, greed and betrayal, driven by the raw dialogue, moral tension and uncompromising realism that define his cinema.

This screening comes with something special.

Following the film, director Yannis Economides will join us for a live Q&A, offering audiences the opportunity to explore the story, its characters and the creative process behind the film.

The discussion will be moderated by Andreas Phylactou from Black Lemon TV.

Some films tell a story. The Mirror remembers one.

Andrei Tarkovsky’s deeply personal masterpiece unfolds like memory itself: fragmented, dreamlike and impossible to contain within a conventional narrative. Childhood, family, war, loss and longing merge into a poetic meditation on the moments that shape us and refuse to disappear.

The road is dark. The radio is playing. And somewhere along the way, reality takes the wrong turn.

This Wednesday, Attikon Garden Screenings enters the hypnotic world of David Lynch with Lost Highway, a neo-noir nightmare of jealousy, desire, murder and fractured identity.

When a jazz musician begins receiving mysterious videotapes filmed inside his own home, the life he recognises slowly comes apart. But in Lynch’s universe, every answer opens another door... and some doors should remain closed.
