Congratulations to Dr. Andreas Kourtellaris on the launch of his new Post-Doc research project, M*FDAC - Enhancing the Hydrophobicity of High-Capacity CO₂ M*F Sorbents for Direct Air Capture Applications.
The M*FDAC project aims to develop advanced materials for the direct capture of CO₂ from the atmosphere, contributing to efforts to address climate change. The research focuses on Metal-Organic Frameworks (M*Fs), highly porous materials with an exceptional ability to adsorb gases. Our goal is to modify these materials to make them water-resistant (hydrophobic) and more effective at selectively capturing CO₂ even under humid, real-world conditions, and to incorporate them into practical M*F-based beads that could potentially be used in CO₂-capture filters and devices. By developing efficient, recyclable and potentially low-energy materials for Direct Air Capture, M*FDAC could contribute to the next generation of technologies for reducing atmospheric CO₂ and supporting a more sustainable, low-carbon future.
