Bahçeşehir Kıbrıs Üniversitesi Gastronomi ve Mutfak Sanatları Bölümü öğrencileri, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Lefkoşa Büyükelçiliği tarafından “Türk Mutfağı Haftası” kapsamında düzenlenen etkinlikte üniversitemizi temsil ederek yer aldı.

“Bir Sofrada Miras” temasıyla gerçekleştirilen bu anlamlı organizasyon, öğrencilerimize Türk mutfağının kültürel mirasını yakından tanıma, alan profesyonelleriyle bir araya gelme ve gastronomi eğitimi yolculuklarına yeni deneyimler kazandırma fırsatı sundu.

Bahçeşehir Cyprus University Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students took part in the event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Nicosia within the scope of “Turkish Cuisine Week” representing our university.

Held under the theme “Heritage at the Table” this meaningful event provided our students with the opportunity to explore the cultural heritage of Turkish cuisine, engage with industry professionals, and gain valuable experiences that contribute to their gastronomic education journey.

Bahçeşehir Cyprus University PhD student Merveils Kadjo Shop successfully presented his research paper titled “Emerging Leadership Theories and Generational Dynamics: Millennials and Gen Z Leadership Expectations” at the Second Meeting of the Turkish Economic Association (SMTEA 2026), held at Istanbul, Türkiye, on 7–9 May 2026.

The research examined the evolving leadership expectations of Millennials and
Generation Z, highlighting the importance of adaptive, inclusive, and future-oriented leadership approaches in today’s organizational environment.
Conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Vildan Esenyel, this achievement marks an important milestone in his doctoral journey and reflects Bahçeşehir Cyprus University’s commitment to academic excellence and international scholarly contribution.

Bahçeşehir Cyprus University Faculty of Tourism academic staff member Dr. Cathrine Banga took part in the 7th Conference on Managing Tourism Across Continents (MTCON’26), held in Antalya, Türkiye, and presented her paper titled “Tourism, the Underrated Giant: Why It Is Still Undervalued.”

In her presentation, Dr. Cathrine addressed the significant yet often underestimated contribution of tourism to economic and social development. Her presentation attracted the attention of international researchers and participants, while also contributing to the academic discussions held throughout the conference.

Bahçeşehir Cyprus University hosted a seminar titled “Lessons Learned from the 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes” organized by the Department of Civil Engineering.

The event began with opening remarks by the Head of Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Seyed Mohammad Fard Mousavi, who emphasized the critical role of earthquake engineering and the responsibility of universities in reducing seismic risks through ethically aware and professionally responsible engineers.

Guest speaker Prof. Dr. Serhan Şensoy delivered a comprehensive presentation on the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, sharing significant findings from the technical report prepared by his team on the İsias Hotel disaster. The seminar highlighted material-related issues, architectural deficiencies, and structural shortcomings that contributed to the collapse, offering valuable lessons for future engineering practices.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session and a commemorative group photograph.
