It is an honour for Frederick University to host the Model United Nations (MUN) at an academic level in Cyprus, under the name “FREDMUN-CYPRUS”. The “Model United Nations”, also known as “MUN”, is an extra-curricular academic activity that is recognized and endorsed by the United Nations. The MUN is an educational simulation during which students from all over the world take on roles as country -
delegates to the United Nations and simulate United Nations committees. Students research global issues, exercise their diplomatic and social skills, negotiate with supporters and adversaries in order to resolve a conflict and find solutions to problems that affect almost each country on Earth. The MUN offers a great chance to familiarize with the function of United Nations, realizing better its role and missions. The rules of procedure of Model United Nations are similar to those from real United Nations conferences so it becomes apparent that during MUN students represent, for some days, a diplomat from one country. FREDMUN-CYPRUS is open both to graduate and postgraduate students from any scientific academic field. It will be a special forum which will offer you a great experience to meet people from different countries of the world, deal with problems which affect humanity, such as human rights violations and political conflicts, develop diplomatic skills in the basis of democracy and dialogue, preparing the future leaders of the world.
