The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life and work. It is the world’s leading youth achievement award.

In 2013 more than one million young people around the world took part in the Award, in over 140 countries and territories. 50 years ago today, on the 21st September 1968, the newly appointed Headmaster of the school, Mr David H. Humphreys, wrote to the Board of Management suggesting the introduction of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award at the school. This was the first milestone in the 50 year history of the Award at the school. Interestingly our school is the oldest Independent Award Centre in the world.

Over the last 50 years, the Award has equipped hundreds of English School students for life and will continue to do so in the coming years.
