The Congo River serves as a critical transport network for millions of people travelling for trade, livelihoods, family visits and essential services.

As Ebola continues to spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, IOM is supporting a new government-led initiative to strengthen disease surveillance, early detection and response along the river.

🥬🍽️ Learning life skills, one meal at a time!

From 6–9 July, IOM Cyprus was delighted to welcome our Food Expert colleague from IOM Greece 🇨🇾🤝🇬🇷 for a week dedicated to promoting food safety and healthy food management practices 🥗.

🏠 From visiting SIL units in Nicosia and Larnaca to improve kitchen environments and hygiene standards, 🍴🧼 to training staff and engaging beneficiaries across Cyprus on topics such as food preservation, safe food handling, and food storage , the week was full of valuable learning, collaboration, and knowledge exchange 📚💡.

These activities aimed to empower young beneficiaries with practical skills that support their transition to independent living, while helping safeguard their health and well-being .

After all, the journey to adulthood involves many important life skills—including knowing how to safely prepare, store, and manage food .

IOM Cyprus 🇨🇾 successfully concluded a two-day training programme delivered by the Κυπριακός Σύνδεσμος Οικογενειακού Προγραμματισμού - ΚΣΟΠ / Cyprus FPA(CFPA), focusing on sexual and reproductive rights, health and well-being, migration and psychological trauma, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and gender and social inclusion.

Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and knowledge exchange, participants strengthened their understanding of key concepts and reflected on their professional role in supporting individuals and communities.

We would like to thank CFPA for facilitating these engaging and informative sessions, as well as all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions throughout the programme.
