Last week, 38 unaccompanied migrant children from across Cyprus 🇨🇾 visited the Troodos Observatory Τroodos Οbservatory
The educational tour included:
🔭 A short introductory astronomy film
🪐 Virtual observation of planets
🌌 Telescope sky-gazing from the rooftop
The children had the opportunity to learn about space while enjoying a unique recreational experience that encouraged curiosity and discovery.
The visit was organized within the framework of the project “Transition to Adulthood: Operation of Semi-Independent Living Units in Cyprus.”

During 2025, the Semi-Independent Living (SIL) project continued to support unaccompanied migrant children on their path toward autonomy, safety, and social inclusion.
🔵652 beneficiaries have been accommodated through the SIL project overall
🔵329 beneficiaries have been supported during 2025
🔵10 cases were referred for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) specialized support
🔵64% of beneficiaries participated in formal and non-formal education
🔵29% of beneficiaries engaged in legal employment
Through individualized case management, protection services, and skills-building activities, the project aims to empower young people to transition successfully into independent adulthood and integration within the community.
📍IOM, with the funding of Υφυπουργείο Κοινωνικής Πρόνοιας - Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία operates semi-independent living units for unaccompanied migrant children to address their basic needs and provides legal counselling, interpretation, psychosocial support, access to medical services and information about life opportunities in 🇨🇾.
