ReSciTEG Eρευνητική ομάδα Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου με ερευνητικό, διδακτικό και ακαδημαϊκό έργο.

Η Ομάδα Έρευνας στη Διδακτική των Φυσικών Επιστημών και της Τεχνολογίας (ReSciTEG) του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου διεξάγει ένα συντονισμένο πρόγραμμα έρευνας, ανάπτυξης προγραμμάτων σπουδών και διδασκαλίας. Η ομάδα αποτελείται από ακαδημαϊκό προσωπικό, επιστημονικούς συνεργάτες, μεταδιδακτορικούς φοιτητές και μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές.

Τα μέλη της ReSciTEG έχουν μεγάλη εμπειρία στον σχεδιασμό τεχνολογικ

ά υποστηριζόμενων προγραμμάτων σπουδών στο αντικείμενο της Διδακτικής των Φυσικών Επιστημών και στο σχεδιασμό και την εφαρμογή διαδικτυακού υλικού διερευνητικής μάθησης για σκοπούς διδασκαλίας στις Φυσικές Επιστήμες. Επιπρόσθετα, τα μέλη της ομάδας έχουν εμπειρία στην αξιολόγηση γνωστικών και συναισθηματικών δεξιοτήτων. Η ομάδα αναλαμβάνει συντονιστικό ρόλο στις προσπάθειες του Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού της Κύπρου να εφαρμόσει τη στρατηγική της ψηφιακής μάθησης (e-learning), μέσω μιας σειράς προγραμμάτων που περιλαμβάνουν θεματολογία όπως, ο σχεδιασμός πολυμεσικών μαθησιακών περιβαλλόντων για τη διδασκαλία και μάθηση στις Φυσικές Επιστήμες. Το έργο μας ως ομάδα έχει λάβει συνεχή χρηματοδότηση από το Ίδρυμα Προώθησης Έρευνας της Κύπρου και από την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή (μέσω διαφόρων ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων, π.χ. IST, Science and Society, Socrates, FP 7). Τέλος, τα μέλη της ReSciTEG, στα πλαίσια των προγραμμάτων που συμμετέχουν, έχουν δημοσιεύσει ερευνητικά άρθρα σε σημαντικά επιστημονικά περιοδικά (π.χ. Science, Cognition and Instruction, Learning and Instruction, Journal of Research in Science Teaching).

💡 From ideas to classroom innovation: shaping the GenAI-EduMap use cases

Over the past weeks, our partners Luleå tekniska universitet /Luleå University of Technology, Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου | University Of Cyprus, Centre/ Trinity College Dublin, Ellinogermaniki Agogi and Athena Research Center have been working together to design the first set of pedagogical use cases that will drive the co-design activities of GenAI-EduMap.

The emerging scenarios go beyond using AI as a simple assistant. They explore how Generative AI can support:

🔹 Critical evaluation of AI-generated content and arguments
🔹 Creative writing, literary style analysis and authorship discussions
🔹 Media literacy, misinformation detection and fact-checking
🔹 Scientific inquiry and investigation design
🔹 Multilingual and inclusive classrooms
🔹 Collaborative learning, debate and reflection on AI suggestions
🔹 AI safety, ethics and responsible use of AI technologies

A common principle across all scenarios is that students think first, AI comes second. Learners are encouraged to develop their own ideas, arguments and solutions before engaging with AI, and then critically evaluate what the AI adds, changes or gets wrong.

The diversity of ideas proposed by partners highlights the project's ambition: to move beyond tool-centred approaches and develop meaningful, curriculum-aligned learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, digital agency and AI literacy.

The next step is to refine these ideas together with teachers and students through national co-design workshops, transforming them into classroom-ready scenarios for piloting across Cyprus, Greece, Ireland and Sweden.

What does responsible and effective use of Generative AI in education actually look like?

Before developing tools, training programmes, or policy recommendations, we first need evidence.

Within the GenAIEduMap project, project partners, led by Luleå tekniska universitet, are currently advancing Work Package 2, which aims to map the current landscape of Generative AI use in schools across , , and .

Through surveys, interviews and focus groups with teachers, students, school leaders, parents and policymakers, we are investigating:

🔹 How GenAI is currently used in teaching, learning and assessment
🔹 Perceived opportunities, risks and challenges
🔹 Ethical and governance concerns
🔹 Institutional readiness and support needs
🔹 Educators’ training and capacity-building requirements
🔹 Conditions for meaningful and sustainable adoption

The questionnaires currently under development will provide the evidence base for the next phases of the project, supporting the co-design of pedagogical use cases, GenAI-powered educational tools, educator training activities, and policy recommendations.
