We extend our congratulations to Mr. Nicodemos Damianou on his recent appointment to the position of the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy in Cyprus.
One particular area in which we envision transformation is the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Cyprus. BIM is a cutting-edge technology that revolutionizes the way construction and infrastructure projects are planned, designed, and executed. It provides a comprehensive digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a building or infrastructure, offering a collaborative platform for stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Benefits that can result from the introduction of BIM in Cyprus are the minimization of project delivery time and reduction in the operational costs. Environmental benefits include improvement in the sustainable design of buildings and reduction in construction waste. The information technology sector will also benefit as BIM depends heavily on reliable IT infrastructure and skilled personnel.
Unfortunately, while the BIM technology has been widely adopted globally, as of today Cyprus remains an incapacitated observant. We expect to see contributions in this area under Mr Damianou’s leadership.
