Across Europe, access to ABA and behavioural interventions remains uneven.

In general, Europe faces a shortage of training opportunities for behaviour analysts.
Access to ABA is highly dependent on private funding, specialist schools, or local service models, rather than universal health systems.

In Cyprus, ABA is available through private practitioners; but the workforce is relatively small and concentrated in the two main cities (Nicosia and Limassol).

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 – 𝐀𝐁𝐀-𝐕𝐑 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭

As the ABA VR project slowly comes to an end, project partners travelled to Cyprus for the final transnational meeting, a great opportunity to come together, reflect on our progress, and share the final outcomes of the project.

To celebrate this important milestone, we organised an 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 of the ABA-VR project. As part of the event, we presented the project’s final results to the students from European University Cyprus, exploring 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.

During the event, participants had the opportunity to explore the 𝐀𝐁𝐀-𝐕𝐑 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 and experience the 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐕𝐑) 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥 developed throughout the project. The students interacted with immersive VR scenarios designed to support learning and professional training in the field of 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 (𝐀𝐁𝐀).

The ABA-VR partnership successfully held its final project meeting, marking the completion of an innovative journey focused on 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭.

During the project, the partnership collaborated to develop valuable educational tools and resources, including the 𝐀𝐁𝐀-𝐕𝐑 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬, 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐦 designed to support professionals and higher education students working with individuals on the autism spectrum.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 is a well-known method primarily utilized for autism treatment. It is highly effective, as over 550 studies confirm its effectiveness, disproving the myth that it lacks scientific proof. ABA is not new; it has been around since the 1950s.
A key feature of ABA is that each program is 𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 and circumstances, meaning it is not a one-size-fits-all approach. ABA utilizes diverse methods, such as incidental teaching, which integrates learning into daily life, and is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 "𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤".

Contrary to popular belief, 𝐀𝐁𝐀 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦; its principles are applied in various fields, including organizational behavior and environmental adaptation. It requires qualified specialists who undergo extensive training. The goal of ABA is to reduce rigidity and teach varied behaviors for real-life use, with the removal of artificial reinforcers planned in advance to ensure the child behaves appropriately in natural circumstances without dependence on rewards.

On the 12th and 13th of May, partners and trainers gathered in Aarhus, Denmark 🇩🇰 for the 𝐒𝐃𝐆𝟑-𝐕𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠.

During the two-day training, participants exchanged knowledge, collaborated on innovative ideas, and presented the Guidebook developed through the project’s joint efforts. The meeting focused on strengthening skills and exploring approaches that promote cultural competence and inclusive practices in social and healthcare VET.

One of the highlights of the day was the 𝐏𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤 (https://povertywalk.dk/) an impactful experience that encouraged participants to reflect on social inequality, inclusion, and the realities faced by vulnerable groups in society.

The training also provided valuable opportunities for networking, peer learning, and sharing experiences among partners and educators from different countries, further strengthening collaboration within the SDG3-VET project.

Last weekend, 16th- 17th of May, we successfully held our ABA VR project pilot testing, focusing on Behaviour Management through Virtual Reality, alongside the project’s final multiplier event. The events brought together education, innovation, and inclusion through an interactive and immersive learning experience.

The highlight of the events was the Virtual Reality Workshop, where attendees had the opportunity to experience how Virtual Reality technologies can be integrated into education and training, creating immersive and innovative learning environments.

Hosted at the European University Cyprus, the events encouraged collaboration, discussion, and hands-on exploration of how technology can support more inclusive and effective educational practices.

Another milestone for the GaitXR project!

We just finished our second face-to-face partner meeting in Modena, Italy, kindly hosted by ANS. During these productive days, partners came together to finalize the last steps of the GaitXR booklet, ensuring everything is ready for the next phase of the project.

We also had the chance to test the augmented reality application, exploring its potential and making valuable improvements. Alongside this, we planned our upcoming Train-the-Trainer activity in Denmark, laying the foundation for the next stage of implementation.

🌎Today, 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟐, we mark 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲, a reminder that our home is not an endless resource, but a system shaped by our choices. Every piece of plastic we throw away, every tree that disappears, and every unnecessary watt we consume leaves a mark.

The Earth doesn’t demand perfection, but it does demand responsibility. Small changes in habits aren’t trivial, they’re the only thing that actually matters. If everyone waits for “someone else,” nothing changes.

Today isn’t about symbolism, it’s about a decision: will you keep going as before, or will you do at least one thing differently?
