We’re pleased to see CYENS Centre of Excellence featured in Politis for our contribution to CySKILLS-AI, a new AI-powered initiative designed to better align education with the evolving needs of Cyprus’ labour market.

Developed by Artemis Intelligence and CYENS, with the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth as the platform’s public-sector user, CySKILLS-AI will combine national data with continuously updated labour market information to support more evidence-based decisions on education, skills and workforce planning.

The project is funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation, under the “AI in Government” programme of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.

At , Andri Ioannou from EdMedia at CYENS & Cyprus University of Technology / Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου together with an international team from Asia and Europe presented a white paper, “Humanising Learning in the Age of AI.”

The paper offers a framework to support policymakers and institutional leaders in humanising learning in the age of AI, by reconfiguring pedagogy and assessment around four guiding principles:

• AI as amplifier, not substitute
• Formation takes priority over performance
• Governance is proportionate to stakes
• A human-centred foundation is cross-civilisational

Together, these principles place the holistic formation of the learner at the centre of how we rethink education in an AI-rich world.

Drawing on evidence and perspectives from Asia and Europe, the work explores how educational institutions can embrace the opportunities offered by AI while preserving the fundamentally human dimensions of learning.

RAISE-UP raiseupai.eu is building an evidence base on how generative AI is actually being used in higher education and vocational education and training across Europe, with a particular focus on business and technical programmes.

Four consultations are currently open, each aimed at a different group. This is your opportunity to contribute evidence that will help shape the guidelines, tools, and policy recommendations produced by the project.

👉 Take part in our questionnaires — choose the one that best fits your role — and/or share a use case describing how generative AI is being used in practice. https://raiseupai.eu/take-part/

CYENS Centre of Excellence was represented at the eCAN Plus WP6 Physical Workshop, held in Odense, Denmark, on 17–18 June 2026.

Titled “Barriers & Facilitators of Virtual Tumor Boards and Digital Transitions in Europe,” the workshop brought together clinical and technical experts from across Europe to explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding digital collaboration, virtual tumour boards and health data exchange.

Representing CYENS, Ioanna Valiandi participated in the workshop and supported its preparation and organisation, contributing to interactive sessions, keynote discussions and live-guided questionnaires addressing both clinical and technical perspectives.

The event was hosted by the Health Innovation Centre of Southern Denmark and co-organised by the eHealth Laboratory of the Cyprus University of Technology as part of the eCAN Plus Joint Action.

Another valuable opportunity for CYENS to contribute to European collaboration around the digital transformation of healthcare.
