📡 Ο Αν. Καθηγητής Δρ. Chris Danezis, Συντονιστής του Κυπριακού Παρατηρητηρίου Γεωκινδύνων ( ), της Στρατηγικής Ερευνητικής Υποδομής Cyclops CY, φιλοξενήθηκε στην εκπομπή « Μέρα Μεσημέρι ΑΝΤ1», όπου παρουσίασε το Cyprus Ground Motion Service ( ).

Το δίνει για πρώτη φορά στην Κύπρο τη δυνατότητα συστηματικής παρακολούθησης των μετακινήσεων του εδάφους, αξιοποιώντας σύγχρονες γεωδαιτικές και δορυφορικές τεχνολογίες.

🤝 Στην παρέμβαση έγινε επίσης αναφορά στη συνεργασία με το Τμήμα Γεωλογικής Επισκόπησης (Cyprus Geological Survey Department), για την καλύτερη παρακολούθηση και κατανόηση των γεωκινδύνων.

🚀 Η Κύπρος αποκτά για πρώτη φορά μια επιχειρησιακή υπηρεσία παρακολούθησης των εδαφικών μετακινήσεων!

👉Το Cyprus Ground Motion Service ( ), που αναπτύχθηκε στο πλαίσιο του έργου Cyclops CY+ και χρηματοδοτήθηκε από το Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας/ Research and Innovation Foundation, με συγχρηματοδότηση από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό ορόσημο για τη χώρα, αξιοποιώντας δορυφορικά δεδομένα και το εθνικό δίκτυο της Στρατηγικής Ερευνητικής Υποδομής CYCLOPS, για την αξιόπιστη παρακολούθηση των μετακινήσεων του εδάφους.

▪️Η υπηρεσία αυτή ενισχύει την έγκαιρη ανίχνευση γεωκινδύνων, υποστηρίζει την προστασία κρίσιμων υποδομών και παρέχει πολύτιμα δεδομένα για την επιστημονική κοινότητα και τους αρμόδιους φορείς.

👉 Developed through the CyCLOPS+ project, the Cyprus Ground Motion Service ( ) marks a major milestone for the country, providing reliable nationwide ground motion monitoring through the integration of satellite observations and the national network of the Strategic Research Infrastructure Unit CyCLOPS.

▪️The service supports the early detection of geohazards, the protection of critical infrastructure, and informed decision-making for authorities, researchers, and stakeholders.

We are proud to announce the successful installation of the MAIA GNSS station (MAIA00CYP) collocated with an Electronic Corner Reflector, further expanding the capabilities of the CyCLOPS integrated GNSS/InSAR monitoring infrastructure across Cyprus. 🌍

The continuous enhancement of the CyCLOPS network strengthens the country’s capacity for:
🔹 High-precision geodetic positioning
🔹 Ground displacmenet and geohazard monitoring
🔹 Advanced SAR/InSAR applications
🔹 Long-term geodynamic research
🔹 Calibration and validation of Earth Observation products
🔹 Support for the Cyprus Ground Motion Service (CyGMS)

We are proud to announce the successful installation of the MAXI GNSS station collocated with an Electronic Corner Reflector (ECR), another important milestone in the continuous expansion of the CyCLOPS integrated GNSS/InSAR monitoring network.

The addition of MAXI strengthens Cyprus’ national geodetic and Earth Observation capabilities, supporting:

🚀 We are proud to congratulate our colleague Dr. Dimitris Kakoullis on securing funding under the POST-DOC/0925-ROandOther Call, specifically in Physical Sciences and Engineering category through the Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας/ Research and Innovation Foundation!

📡 His project, ARGES (AI for Radiometric and Geometric Calibration in SAR), represents a major step forward in advancing cutting-edge research and innovation in our field.

🌍ARGES will deliver an operational, traceable calibration chain for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), using the Cyclops CY Strategic Research Infrastructure Unit and the CyGOS supersite (Group on Earth Observations ) in Cyprus to produce calibrated, uncertainty-qualified products.

This achievement reflects dedication, scientific excellence, and a strong commitment to impactful research 👏
