Originally initiated at the Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón (ESDA), Zaragoza (Spain), the ‘Social Design Days’ have become a conference space for exchange within the DESIS community and its wider network. The 2026 edition marks the first time the event is organised at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in Portugal, reinforcing the institution’s engagement with socially oriented design research and education.
We are honoured to be invited to this conference, firstly to run a workshop under the title “Social design versus right-wing policies”, and secondly as a keynote speaker with a presentation titled “Social design challenges in editing DISCERN - Balancing values, voices, and visibility in an online journal”.
