On 22 May, we were delighted to host students and teachers from IES Calvià (Mallorca) as part of the Network of European Blue Schools and their Erasmus+ programme. 💙

Our visitors inspired us with their fascinating citizen science project, developed alongside leading research institutions, exploring key environmental issues such as sea level changes, coastal erosion, Posidonia Oceanica, and loggerhead sea turtles. 🐢🌿

Our Year 6 students then took part in an engaging, hands-on workshop, fostering collaboration and deepening their understanding of the environmental challenges facing our Mediterranean seas.

We were equally proud to showcase our own project, “Seas of Change: Sustainability from Sea Grass and Sea Shells.” From beach clean-ups and compost creation to our Beach Toy Library and innovative mussel shell cement experiment, our students demonstrated creativity, sustainability, and a strong commitment to protecting our environment. ♻️🌍

This visit was a wonderful celebration of international collaboration, cultural exchange, and shared responsibility for our oceans.

A heartfelt thank you to IES Calvià for inspiring our students and making this experience truly unforgettable! ✨

🌊🔬 Year 4 pupils have successfully completed the second phase of our European Blue School project, “Seas of Change: Sustainability from Sea Grass and Sea Shells”!

This phase focused on our exciting Mussels Cement Experiment, where pupils explored how mussel shells can be used as a more sustainable alternative in cement production. Through hands-on investigations, children learned about the environmental impact of traditional cement and discovered innovative ways science can help protect our planet. ♻️🐚

The project encouraged pupils to think like young scientists — observing, predicting, testing and reflecting on how small changes can contribute to a more sustainable future.

A huge well done to our Year 4 pupils for their enthusiasm, teamwork and fantastic scientific thinking! 👏🌍
