Last outreach activity of the AI-OBSERVER project at the European Researcher's Night 2025 in Cyprus

Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence participated in the event with researchers presenting the AI-Observer project and its results to university and school students, researchers, companies and public.

🎇 The week 15-19 September 2025 was full of events hosted by Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence. The week included an expert visits, staff exchange by the advance partners Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz and Università di Roma Tor Vergata to Cyprus, the AI-OBSERVER project final stakeholder workshop, and the final project consortium meeting.

🛰️ We would like to thank Mr Marcello Maranesi CEO of GMATICS for his expert visit and the interesting talk titled "Future EO Missions and Challenges" on 15 September 2025.

💡 Many thanks to Dr Gerd Reis and Mr Alireza Javanmardi From Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz and Prof. Fabio Del Frate, Dr. Giorgia Guerrisi and Dr. Lorenzo Giuliano Papale from Università di Roma Tor Vergata for the numerous meetings and discussions you had with our researchers on the project's topics and developed products for , , , and using and during the entire week 15-19 September 2025.

👏 Many thanks to all stakeholders that participated in the final project workshop on 19 September where the project's results and platform were presented to over 40 people from the public sector, the industry, the academia/research community and the general public.

🤝 The week ended with final consortium meeting on 19 September 2025, where all project partners met and discussed nay pending issues and the way forward after the end of the project regarding the exploitation of the project's products and new collaborations. Many thanks to all project partners for the seamless and constructive collaboration we had during these 3 years.

Ολοκληρώθηκε το ερευνητικό έργο AI-Observer από το Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence Κέντρο Αριστείας ΕΡΑΤΟΣΘΕΝΗΣ, με στόχο την αξιοποίηση της Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης για την πρόληψη και αντιμετώπιση φυσικών καταστροφών, με έμφαση στις πυρκαγιές που αποτελούν κρίσιμο ζήτημα για την Κύπρο.

Το έργο χρηματοδοτήθηκε από την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή European Commission στο πλαίσιο του Horizon Europe Twinning και υλοποιήθηκε σε συνεργασία με το DFKI στη Γερμανία, το Πανεπιστήμιο Tor Vergata στη Ρώμη και την κυπριακή εταιρεία CELLOCK Ltd.

Η τελική ημερίδα συγκέντρωσε περισσότερους από 40 εκπροσώπους ακαδημαϊκών, δημόσιων και ιδιωτικών φορέων. Το AI-OBSERVER εστίασε σε έξι βασικούς κινδύνους: σεισμούς, κατολισθήσεις, παράκτια διάβρωση, πυρκαγιές, πλημμύρες και θαλάσσια ρύπανση, με στόχο να εφαρμοστεί σε εθνικό επίπεδο για έγκαιρη προειδοποίηση, μείωση ρίσκου και προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και της ποιότητας ζωής.

Many thanks to our trainers, Ms Valeria La Pegna and Prof. Fabio Del Frate from the Università di Roma Tor Vergata who conducted a hands-on workshop on water quality monitoring and marine pollution using and data with on 28-30 July 2025 at Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence premises in Limassol, Cyprus.

As we approach to the end of the project, this concludes the hands-on workshop series that were planned throughout the project.

A very interesting webinar was carried out today by Ms Flavia La Colla from APRE - Agenzia per la Promozione della Ricerca Europea in the framework of the Research Management and Administration capacity building activities of AI-Observer project to Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence personnel, covering the topic of protection in the framework of projects.

Many thanks to our trainers, Dr Giorgia Guerrisi and Dr Davide De Santis from Università di Roma Tor Vergata, who conducted a hands-on workshop on Floods and Extreme meteorological events using and on 2-4 June 2025 at Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence premises in Limassol, Cyprus.

From 20 to 24 March 2025, a 3-day hands on workshop on forest fires using and , was organised by Università di Roma Tor Vergata at Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence premises.

Feature extraction, future selection, and fuel map development were few of the topics covered.
