Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and courage of women everywhere. 🫶🏼
This video is dedicated to a woman who deeply moved me this past summer from Uganda. Her words brought tears to my eyes and reminded me why education, compassion, and solidarity among women matter so much.
Harriet shared the painful story of her best friend, Happy, who was stigmatized because of her period and later lost her life after experiencing violence. In her memory, Harriet founded the , determined to ensure that no girl feels shame about her body and that every girl has access to knowledge and dignity.
During the workshop, Harriet spoke openly with young girls about reproductive health and menstruation. Together, we made reusable period pads, giving girls practical tools, confidence, and the message that their bodies are nothing to be ashamed of.
It was one of the most meaningful workshops I have ever been part of.
Today I want to remind every woman and girl:
You are strong.
Your voice matters.
Your story matters.
Let us continue to lift each other up, break stigmas, and create a world where every girl can live with dignity, knowledge, and hope.
Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women out there. 🌸
