University of the Near East (NEU)
Near East University was founded in Nicosia, the capital city of Northern Cyprus, in 1988. There are 20 faculties, 220 departments, and 218 graduate and postgraduate programs at this university. This university is also a member of a number of international organizations.
The following are the most important characteristics of this university:
- The Faculty of Medicine is the country's first medical school. Near East University Hospital is the most modern research and training hospital in the Eastern Mediterranean region, as well as North Cyprus' main hospital.
- The Faculty of Dentistry is North Cyprus' first dental school, and the Dentistry Facilities it houses are the world's first JCI-accredited private dentistry clinics.
- The Faculty of Pharmacy is North Cyprus' first pharmacy school.
