Learning these idioms is the quickest way to move from a student to a true φίλος (friend) of the culture.

The apostrophe? That's elision, when a vowel drops in spoken Greek. Super common in everyday speech!

Has a Greek mother ever told you she “ate the world” to find you? 🌍🍽️

The classic phrase «Έφαγα τον κόσμο να σε βρω» translates literally to just that, but it actually means “I turned the world upside down looking for you!”

Greek expressions hit different - and are definitely more dramatic - when a mama says them. ❤️
