๐Ÿ“ข On July 17โ€“18, the University of Nicosia Research Foundation (UNRF), and the GNOSIS Mediterranean Institute for Management Science of the University of Nicosia, successfully hosted and participated in the kick-off meeting of the SENSOR project โ€“ โ€œWhistleblowing as a Tool Towards the EUโ€™s Climate Neutrality.โ€ SENSOR is funded by the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) Programme and is coordinated by the University of Nicosia Research Foundation.

Officially launched on June 1, 2025, this collaborative initiative brings together five partner organizations with the aim of strengthening accountability and promoting whistleblowing as an effective anti-corruption mechanism. By fostering a culture of reporting within national ecosystems, SENSOR contributes to the broader objective of achieving the EUโ€™s climate neutrality goals.

๐Ÿ’กWhy SENSOR?

Corruption often happens behind closed doors, making it hard for everyday people to expose it. Thatโ€™s why whistleblowing is so importantโ€”but to work, people need to know how to report, feel safe doing it, and trust the system. By raising awareness, building trust, and connecting citizens, CSOs, and authorities, we can make reporting easier, protect whistleblowers, and create a culture where speaking up is the norm.

UNRF is proud to coordinate the Project and lead Work Packages 1: Project management, coordination and monitoring and Work Package 2: Current situation, needs assessment, good practices collection and policy recommendation paper. Over the coming months, UNRF and partners will identify key needs, challenges, and good practices to promote whistleblowing as an effective tool towards EUโ€™s climate neutrality.

The SENSOR project has received funding from the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, Grant Agreement no. 101215243.
