Vocabulary Lesson: Phrasal Verbs with Look

Today, we're looking at five useful phrasal verbs with look that you'll hear in conversations, movies, and books. Learning phrasal verbs as complete expressions, rather than translating each word individually, helps you sound more fluent and understand native speakers more easily.

Look for: to search for something or someone.
Look after: to take care of someone or something.
Look forward to: to feel excited about something in the future.
Look up: to search for information in a book, dictionary, or online.
Look up to: to admire and respect someone.

Ο καλύτερος τρόπος για να ενισχύσετε την προσπάθειά του παιδιού σας είναι να εντάξετε τη γλώσσα φυσικά στην καθημερινότητα. Ενθαρρύνετε το παιδί να παρακολουθεί τις αγαπημένες του ταινίες ή κινούμενα σχέδια στην ξένη γλώσσα, ακούστε μαζί τραγούδια και, πάνω απ' όλα, ζητήστε του να σας «διδάξει» αυτά που έμαθε στην τάξη. Όταν ένα παιδί εξηγεί στους γονείς του νέες λέξεις, αποκτά τεράστια αυτοπεποίθηση και εμπαιδώνει τη γνώση πολύ πιο γρήγορα.

Γιατί είναι σημαντικό το παιδί μου να μάθει Αγγλικά;

Tα Αγγλικά δεν είναι απλώς μία ξένη γλώσσα, αποτελούν τη γλώσσα της
διεθνούς επικοινωνίας, των επιχειρήσεων και της καινοτομίας. Καθώς τα
παιδιά μεγαλώνουν, η γνώση της αγγλικής γλώσσας μπορεί να τους
προσφέρει σημαντικά πλεονεκτήματα:

Να διεκδικήσουν περισσότερες επαγγελματικές ευκαιρίες στην Κύπρο
και στο εξωτερικό.

Να συνεργάζονται με ανθρώπους από διαφορετικές χώρες και
πολιτισμούς.

Να έχουν πρόσβαση σε κορυφαία πανεπιστήμια, εκπαιδευτικά
προγράμματα και διεθνείς πιστοποιήσεις.

Να ανταποκριθούν στις απαιτήσεις μιας παγκόσμιας αγοράς εργασίας,
όπου η γνώση Αγγλικών θεωρείται πλέον βασικό προσόν.

📚 Take off: to remove clothing / for a plane to leave the ground.

📚 Take up: to start a new hobby or activity.

📚 Take over: to take control of something.

📚 Take back: to admit something was wrong or to return an item.

Το καλοκαίρι είναι η ιδανική περίοδος για να ξεκουραστούν τα παιδιά, όμως είναι σημαντικό να διατηρούν μια μικρή, σταθερή επαφή με τις ξένες γλώσσες. Όταν η εξάσκηση στα Αγγλικά ή τα Γαλλικά σταματά εντελώς για δύο ή τρεις μήνες, είναι φυσιολογικό τα παιδιά να ξεχάσουν μέρος του λεξιλογίου και να χρειαστούν χρόνο για να επανέλθουν τον Σεπτέμβριο.

Δεν χρειάζονται ώρες διαβάσματος. Αρκούν λίγες φορές την εβδομάδα, μέσα από δραστηριότητες όπως:
- Ανάγνωση ενός σύντομου βιβλίου στα Αγγλικά ή στα Γαλλικά.
- Τραγούδια.
- Παρακολούθηση μιας παιδικής σειράς ή ταινίας.
- Εκπαιδευτικά παιχνίδια και εφαρμογές.
- Μικρές καθημερινές συζητήσεις χρησιμοποιώντας νέες λέξεις και εκφράσεις.

Στο Lumiere Institute πιστεύουμε ότι οι γλώσσες μαθαίνονται όταν γίνονται μέρος της καθημερινότητας. Γι' αυτό ενθαρρύνουμε τους μαθητές μας να διατηρούν την επαφή τους με τα Αγγλικά και τα Γαλλικά και κατά τη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού, ώστε να επιστρέφουν στις τάξεις με αυτοπεποίθηση και έτοιμοι να συνεχίσουν την πρόοδό τους.
