The Turkish Cypriot side continued their impressive start to the CONIFA European Championship with a commanding 4-0 victory over FF Rouet Provence.

Goals from Eseller, Güçlücan, Aykut and Oshan secured another dominant performance as the TRNC maintained its perfect record in the competition.

After years away from international football, the TRNC national team is making a statement on its return to the international stage.

Just weeks after Kazakhstan welcomed TRNC President Tufan Erhürman to the Organisation of Turkic States Summit, South Cyprus opened an embassy in Astana, launched direct flights, and began a wider diplomatic push across Central Asia.

At the same time, Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos has embarked on a regional tour of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Coincidence? We don’t think so.

What a way to begin the CONIFA European Championship.

After taking a 1-0 lead into the break through Şoför, the Turkish Cypriots produced a dominant second-half performance to secure an impressive 5-1 victory in their opening match of the tournament.

The goals came from Şoför (2), Sezer, Güçlücan and Oshan as Northern Cyprus made a statement on their return to international football.

Even more significantly, Şoför’s opening goal was the first scored by the TRNC national football team in eight years.

A fantastic result, a fantastic performance, and the perfect start to the tournament.

CONIFA Avrupa Şampiyonası’na bundan daha iyi bir başlangıç yapmak mümkün değildi.

Şoför’ün golüyle ilk yarıyı 1-0 önde kapatan Kıbrıs Türk Milli Takımı, ikinci yarıda ortaya koyduğu üstün performansla sahadan 5-1 galip ayrıldı.

Gollerimiz Şoför (2), Sezer, Güçlücan ve Oshan’dan geldi. KKTC, uluslararası futbola dönüşünde güçlü bir mesaj verdi.

Daha da önemlisi, Şoför’ün attığı ilk gol, KKTC Milli Futbol Takımı’nın sekiz yıl sonraki ilk golü oldu.

Harika bir sonuç, harika bir performans ve turnuva için mükemmel bir başlangıç.

A proud moment for all Turkish Cypriots! 👏

10-year-old Turkish Cypriot-British karting driver Ilyas Sami delivered an incredible performance at Champions of the Future Academy Program Round 2 in Greece, taking back-to-back Final wins in the Mini 60 category across Saturday and Sunday.

He becomes the first Mini 60 driver of the 2026 Champions of the Future Academy Program season so far to achieve a double Final win - with his Sunday victory decided by just 0.002 seconds.

An amazing achievement for such a young driver competing on the international karting stage.

10 yaşındaki Kıbrıslı Türk-Britanyalı karting pilotu İlyas Sami, Yunanistan’da düzenlenen Champions of the Future Academy Programı 2. Ayak yarışlarında muhteşem bir performans sergileyerek Mini 60 kategorisinde hem Cumartesi hem de Pazar günkü finalleri kazanmayı başardı.

Böylece İlyas, 2026 Champions of the Future Academy Programı sezonunda Mini 60 kategorisinde iki final yarışını da kazanan ilk pilot oldu. Pazar günkü zaferini ise sadece 0,002 saniyelik farkla elde etti.

Uluslararası karting sahnesinde yarışan bu kadar genç bir sporcu için gerçekten olağanüstü bir başarı.

On 15 May, Kazakhstan welcomed TRNC President Tufan Erhürman to the Organisation of Turkic States Summit, where he met with President Tokayev.

Today, Kazakhstan welcomed Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides to Astana, opened an embassy for the Greek Cypriot administration, launched direct flights, and strengthened bilateral ties.

It is clear that Kazakhstan is pursuing its own interests. As it looks to diversify its foreign policy and reduce its dependence on Russia, it is also seeking to strengthen relations with the European Union and South Cyprus, which currently holds the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Nevertheless, the contradiction remains clear. Turkish Cypriots are welcomed into the Turkic world, yet the fiction that the Greek Cypriot administration represents the whole island continues to be reinforced internationally.

Cyprus has two peoples and two states. The international community cannot continue ignoring this reality while expecting Turkish Cypriots to accept isolation.

With Türkiye’s support, our fellow Turkic states should now take practical steps towards direct flights, direct trade and direct contact with Northern Cyprus.

🇹🇷 15 Mayıs’ta Kazakistan, KKTC Cumhurbaşkanı Tufan Erhürman’ı Türk Devletleri Teşkilatı Zirvesi’nde ağırladı ve Cumhurbaşkanı Tokayev ile görüştürdü.

Bugün ise Kazakistan, Rum lider Nikos Hristodulidis’i Astana’da ağırladı, Rum yönetimi için büyükelçilik açtı, doğrudan uçuşları başlattı ve ikili ilişkilerini güçlendirdi.

Kazakistan, AB ile ilişkilerini geliştirirken kendi çıkarlarını takip etme hakkına sahiptir.

Ancak çelişki ortadadır. Kıbrıs Türkleri Türk dünyasında kabul görürken, Rum yönetiminin tüm adayı temsil ettiği yönündeki kurgu uluslararası alanda güçlendirilmeye devam ediyor.

Kıbrıs’ta iki halk ve iki devlet vardır. Uluslararası toplum bu gerçeği görmezden gelirken Kıbrıs Türklerinden izolasyonu kabul etmelerini bekleyemez.

Türkiye’nin desteğiyle kardeş Türk devletleri artık doğrudan uçuş, doğrudan ticaret ve doğrudan temas için somut adımlar atmalıdır.
