One of the things keeping us back in life, causing stress, insecurity and maybe even unhappiness in life, is that we often tend to take ourselves to serious 🤨
↪️ The moments that we (re)connect and are in touch with our inner child are scarce
↪️ We tend to forget to enjoy and have fun

On an island where the image and reputation of men as for their contribution to family life and society in general unfortunately can still be quite negative 😑 spreading this message is especially important!

But not only here on Curaçao; worldwide it has importance 🌍🌎🌏 Let's encourage men to show their vulnerability and be in touch with their emotions‼️
↪️ instead of feeling they might need to resort to macho behaviour and related stereotypes

MPowerMEN Curaçao is a foundation that helps men become aware of the importance of their role as a father, son, brother, friend and life partner or husband 🗝🌟

I line with this statement and in celebration of this special day I want to share my gratitude for all the wonderful men in my life 🙏
↪️ I feel truly blessed for having a caring father who is always there for me and that I can count on for anything at anytime
↪️ a loving husband whom I share my life with and can have open, interesting and challenging conversations with
↪️ and many other male friends, colleagues etc. whom have played an important role in my life and still do.

'Todos Santos'🕯🕯🕯The day that we remember our beloved deceased ✨️

In Bolivian tradition 🇧🇴 we believe their souls come and visit us from 12 AM on 1 November till 12 AM the next day 🕛

As it is believed that the souls of the deceased become protective entities, that accompany, advise, guide and protect us 🗝🌟

To receive them we prepare a 'mast'aku', a table, with amongst others flowers, their picture and food and drinks 🍽🍷the ones we remember enjoyed most during their lifetime.

There is always a glass of water as the journey is long and they probably will be thirsty once they arrive🪜

There is so much more to this tradition than I can possibly share in a post 📲 but if you read this you will have at least gotten a gist of the meaning of these couple of days in one of my home cultures 🇧🇴

On the one hand these days I feel kind of sad and gloomy 🌧 but I am also filled with gratitude because the idea that my beloved deceased are actively present today, keeping me company, gives me comfort and strength 🙏 I feel supported.

These beautiful words from - LBH 📍🇨🇼 caught my eye at a moment that I was in need of a hopeful reminder from the universe ✨️

We don't know why certain things happen how they do, when they do...R.I.P. 🪘🎶

That is why reading this brought me some comfort and strength 🫂 as it totally resonates with what I believe to be true🙏 namely that
↪️ "It is precisely our human diversity that balances and keeps the boat afloat, so that we can resist the storms" 🛶🌊

Whatever challenges we face, we should never lose faith in each other ❤️🗝🌟 Human connection is everything✌️☮️ Love Always.

Rooftop Delight ✨️ Sometimes as an expat you don't really know what you miss 😬 until you unexpectedly get reminded...
Discovering this new rooftop bar was instant happiness for me 🤩 making me realize that apparently I was missing something like this in town📍🇨🇼
Even though we have a lot of cool places we can go to for a drink 🥂 I felt this place is THE addition for the Big City vibe that I LOVE ❤️ and certainly got used to after living in Rotterdam for over 17 years 🟢⚪️🟢 🇳🇱

Expatlife provides you with amazing opportunities 🗝🌟 but it can be pretty overwhelming too 🙄 and at times you can experience unexpected emotions 🥰😡🥺😭

This is totally normal and part of the process you go through as an expat 🔄
