It is a sure sign that this school year has been filled with so many different activities, learning and fun that it has taken us 2 months!!!! to make a post about our amazing Secondary School Sports Day event that happened back at the beginning of April!!! Our sports day committee did an excellent job planning all of the different events, including track and field, soccer, basketball, volleyball and swimming. We had a wonderful group of volunteers, and the kids had an absolute blast. Even though of course everyone won by taking part, our graduating CAPS Class of 2026 ultimately were the overall event winners, adding an excellent memory for them as they close their chapter of schooling with CAPS. I know the other students are already looking forward to the event next year.

We are sharing a sneak peek of our student art gallery from when the K3 students came to visit today. Students from all grade levels have been stopping by all week to see the amazing artistic talents of our students guided by our awesome art teacher Ms. Gillisa Hart. Tomorrow (Friday, May 29th) parents are invited to visit the art gallery, as well as our end of year musical showcase. It will be an exciting collaboration of our visual and performing arts programs here at CAPS - thank you Mr. Steve T. Stay tuned for more pictures and videos of the event in the coming days......

Our 10th grade US History class recently visited the Fundashon Museo Tula at the beautiful Landhuis Knip. They have been learning about the history of slavery in the United States and took the opportunity to compare that with the history of slavery here in Curacao, including a focus on slaves who lead uprisings in both places. Their guide was fantastic and the students appreciated making the connections between their classroom learning and the real world.

Students at CAPS have been up to exciting things as usual. We are very proud of one of our middle school students, Ginevra Taylor, who has been shortlisted for the Oxford Writer's House Peregrine Prize for Young Writers with her short story "To Joust". With citizenship and community at the forefront of their minds, our 3rd and 4th grade students have been reading to earn stars in Reading A to Z (RAZ Plus). They could donate these "stars" to schools without libraries in under-developed countries to help them get supplies. 6th grade students acted as advisers to the President of the United States while trying to solve the Cuban Missile Crisis, and many of our high school students have been busy these past weeks taking their Advanced Placement exams in subjects ranging from Physics to English Literature and Calculus. We are so proud of all of the continued achievements of our entire student body.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!!!!!! 🥰 CAPS is very grateful for the amazing team we have on staff and for all of the care and attention they show for our students and our school. We absolutely could not do it without them, and we are so thankful for them each and every day. Please give a shout out to a CAPS teacher that you appreciate.....

Happy Earth Day from CAPS!!!! Today our Kindergarten students learned all about the importance of reusing and repurposing materials instead of throwing them away. Last week, our 7th grade students visited Hofi Cas Cora and learned all about the importance of sustainable farming and got their hands dirty helping out with both the animals and with planting. We think it is so important to teach our children about looking after our planet and about all of the small steps we can all take each day to help. 🌎

Last week several of our high school students participated as delegates in the 2026 Model United Nations conference hosted by the International School of Curacao. The students had an excellent time and were able to put what they learned in the classroom into practice. We are very proud of all of our delegates, but want to give a special mention to Faith Steward, who was awarded Most Improved Delegate and also to Vasant Alluri who won 3 awards including, Best Public Speaker, Best Diplomat and Most Likely to Become UN Secretary General!!! Vasant is also part of a brand-new youth group called Breincafe Curacao, that is offering extracurricular workshops and projects for youth ages 14 - 19 years. It is very rewarding to see our students participating in and leading so many exciting initiatives and we know they have bright futures ahead!! 🥰

Yesterday CAPS was excited to have Jasmira and Daniel from Centrale Bank van Curacao en Sint Maarten visit our Grade 3 and 4 students to talk about money in general, as well as all about the new Caribbean guilder. It was a very informative and interesting visit, and the students (and adults) learned a lot.
