Adventures in Jazz is dedicated to furthering the celebration of the jazz, Latin jazz and Samba Jazz at workshops in beautiful locations around the world. True to the philosophy that music builds bridges, these weeklong events bring students from all continents to learn and perform this beautiful music. Roni Ben-Hur and Amy London, the founders of Adventures in Jazz, have years of experience direc
ting and participating in jazz camps. For 2013, with collaboration from their long time colleague, Santi Debriano, they have launched three exciting camps at magnificent locations, Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Istanbul, Turkey, and Schroon Lake, New York. Each camp last for a week, and is filled with workshops as well as opportunities to jam and perform. Guided by a faculty which features some of New York’s highly regarded performers and educators, students will take part in daily ensemble sessions covering jazz, Latin Jazz and Samba Jazz. In addition, workshops in improvisation and harmony, Latin percussion, vocal and instrumental technique and jam sessions will take place every day. At the end of the week student will perform as part of a festival for the local community, along side the faculty. Adventures in Jazz places an emphasis on exposing students to the local community and environment, organizing trips to some of the beautiful attractions these local have to offer as well as opportunities to interact with the locals and learn about their culture. This synergy of learning and leisure provides an ideal getaway, with ample opportunities to learn and experience beautiful music along side chances to visit beautiful places taking advantage of the attractions they have to offer.
