Summer School on Scientific Machine Learning

1 – 11 August, 2026

We are pleased to announce a summer school on scientific machine learning that brings together machine learning methods and a range of scientific disciplines.

The school aims to equip participants with a solid methodological understanding of machine learning and its application in science. We will offer intensive lectures covering both fundamental concepts and applied aspects, with an emphasis on how and why these techniques work in specific scientific settings. The program will combine lectures with hands-on sessions, illustrating how these methods are used in practice across different scientific problems. Each evening will be reserved for joint discussions or informal activities arranged with lecturers during the day.

The application deadline is: May 15rd, 2026, 23:59 CET.

PSI schools are in progress. Our partner from the start has been SISSA - Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati whose staff, postdocs, and PhD students deliver lectures every year. Other Italian academic institutions have also supported the school over the years, and in addition, we have many Italian students every year. It was then a good opportunity for the Italian Ambassador in Serbia to visit Petnica and address the attendees of the schools.

PSI has always been a special opportunity for generations of students from Petnica Science Center’s high school programs to reunite in one place. This year, it’s the astronomers' turn! 🔭

Some of them return as students once more, while others now take on new roles — as organizers, PSI program leads, or even as members of Petnica’s leadership — from program managers and directors to members of the Program Council and the Board of Directors.

It’s a beautiful reminder of how Petnica fosters lifelong connections, friendships, curiosity, and growth — across generations and across roles.
