Second day of is behind us! We had the honor to listen to two experienced professors from Faculty of Law in Novi Sad, who talked on different topics connected to Human Rights. After the lectures the sightseeing tour commenced, after that the night party was held in Serbian traditional kafana 🙂

Our eighth lecturer is Misha Plagis, a Guest at the Max Planck Institute for Procedural Law. She was a doctoral fellow at the ‘Human Rights Under Pressure’ international and interdisciplinary graduate school based at the Freie Universität Berlin from 2014-2017, and is in the processes of completing her doctorate. Her doctoral dissertation was on the concept of ‘access to justice’ and how it is conceived as a right under human rights law. The thesis investigated the connections between law and development in the context of providing access to courts, and looked specifically at the difficulties of implementation when it comes to ‘access to justice’ in rural India and South Africa. She has since written on the historical origins of the right to a fair trial in the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Her academic career builds on her experience with NGOs around the world including India, South Africa, and various European countries, as well as her LL.M. from Maastricht University.

Our seventh lecturer is Tijana Žunić Marić.
She is an Attorney at Law and a Partner at Žunić Law Firm Novi Sad. Tijana’s specialization includes Intellectual Property and IT Law, with particular emphasis on issues related to data protection, outsourcing agreements, unfair competition and dispute resolution within the IT sector. Tijana has advised some of the leading national and regional companies, with a special accent on prominent IT companies. In addition to her work as the Attorney at Law in Serbia, Tijana gained experience by shadowing some of the distinguished English barristers, while working at four leading London barristers’ chambers, as the Bar of England and Wales Scholar. Tijana obtained her LL.B and LL.M degrees at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Law, as well as LL.M. degree at the University of Luxembourg. Tijana also completed LL.M degree in Intellectual Property at the University of Cambridge, as the Cambridge Overseas Trust and Open Society Foundation Scholar.
