PROJECT DESCRIPTION
1. Aim and tasks of the research
The overall objective of the project is to explore the ways in which dominant socio-cultural identities are formed and expressed in pre-school children in Montenegro - national, social, personal, linguistic, spiritual, gender. Socio-cultural identities will be examined through pedagogical parameters - the agency and autonomy of children - in the socio-pedagogical context of the teacher-child and the parent-child interactions, through the power relations, the implicit pedagogy of the parents / educators, the epistemological theory of parents / educators, the organization of the socio-pedagogical environment and so on. The focus of the analysis will be the teacher-child and parent-child pedagogical interaction. This process will be realized through the following activities / tasks:
1. Preliminary phase of the research
2. Examine how children identities are formed and manifest through teacher-child pedagogical interactions
3. Examine how children identities are formed and manifest through parent-child pedagogical interactions
4. Investigate whether there are explicitly marked goals, tasks, activities related to the forming and expression of identity in pre-school children in educational policy documents in the country;
5. Processing and interpretation of the research results;
6. Creating pre-service (Intercultural Pedagogy) and in-service (Vocational Training Programs at the Institute for Education) programs of teachers / professional associates to encourage the formation of affirmative identities of pre-school children.
7. Promotion and dissemination of research results;
8. Monitoring and evaluation of the project.
We will implement the project through eight work packages, as follows:
WP I Preparation phase, which will consist of preparation, consulting, trainings and creation of scientific-research instruments;
WP II Implementation of the research segment in the field of teacher-child interaction, to be carried out through ethnographic research, case studies, and focus-group interviews;
WP III Implementation of the research segment in the domain of parent-child interaction, which will be conducted through focus-group and individual interviews with parents, as well as by implementing questionnaire for parents;
WP IV Implementation of comparative research of educational policy documents in partner countries;
WP V Research results analysis and interpretation;
WP VI Creation of a pre-service and in-service program on encouraging the development of the affirmative identities of pre-school children;
WP VII Project activities promotion;
WP VIII Monitoring and Evaluation, as activities that are represented throughout the duration of the project.
2. Research sample
The survey sample includes all preschool children and educators of one educational group enrolled in 2019/20. in the pedagogical program within six cities in the territory of Montenegro, namely: Tivat; Ulcinj, Cetinje; Podgorica; Bijelo Polje; Flowers.
The sample of the survey will on average include a total of 150-180 preschool children and 12-18 educators, depending on the size of the group in these cities. Given that the sample covers more than ½ of the total population and that it represents the whole population by its basic characteristics, characteristics, characteristics and characteristics, the obtained research results will be able to be generalized, ie. apply to the entire population.
3. Activities for the first year of realization of the research project
- Expert consultations and training for researchers will be implemented from April to the end of August 2019.
- Creation of scientific research instruments and planning of research methodology will be implemented in September and October 2019.
- A round table attended by experts from various fields (sociology, anthropology, psychology, etc.) will be held at the end of October 2019. with a view to sharing the necessary knowledge and experience and considering the research instruments created.
- Ethnographic research, case studies, focus-group interviews with educators, focus-group interviews with parents, individual interviews with parents and parental surveys will be conducted from November 2019. until February 2020.
- Comparative analysis of educational policy documents and comparative analysis of international / European educational policy documents focusing on issues of identity development in preschool children will be implemented in September and October 2019.
- Participation in scientific conferences and conferences will be realized in November 2019.
- Monitoring of the project progress will be carried out every month within the planned activities.
- Internal evaluation will be completed in March 2020. before the implementation of the activities envisaged for the second year of work on the scientific research project.
