The 14th International Summer School in Comparative was a huge success! 🎊

We hosted over 70 participants from all over the world & a stellar academic team - Dr. Sonja Stojanovic Gajic, Dr. Catia Confortini, Dr. Igor Stiks, Dr. Olivera Simic & Prof. Marie Breen-Smyth.

One memorable week at Fakultet za medije i komunikacije brought us a lot of learning, discussions, critical thinking, sharing of experiences and, of course, making connections & friendships 🫶

Dr. Igor Štiks & this year's students successfully wrapped up the penultimate day of classes with discussions on continuing outside the classroom 🙌

The inimitable Prof. Marie Breen-Smyth with this year's group of students in the course Violence, War & Trauma.

We are told class discussions are as vibrant as ever, as students are diving deep into the topic of & applying the theory to various case studies and personal experiences.

Some of the topics in our summer school programs are quite difficult, especially parts of Dr. Olivera Simić' course Justice After Mass Atrocities, which explores issues of reparation, retribution and experiences of victimhood.

Still, we love seeing students connect and engage with one another, and share experiences and views with so much empathy and respect.

Thank you for creating a platform for these important discussions with us! 🤍

Day 2 in in Dr Catia Confortini’s class, as students discussed the importance (and still developing efforts) of including feminist perspectives into IR 🤓

We hope everyone enjoyed our political walks despite the rain ☂️

This year we've organized 3 fascinating tours on topics ranging from cultural symbolism and gentrification to LGBTQ rights - perhaps some of our guides' points will make it into class discussions! 👌
