У оквиру пројекта под покровитељством Фонда за науку Републике Србије, публикован је рад под називом „Techno-Economic Comparison of a Large-Scale Nuclear Power Plant, Small Modular Reactors, and Wind and Solar Power Plant Deployment“ у престижном међународном часопису „ MDPI Energies“.

Истраживање упоређује три пројекта производње електричне енергије у циљу декарбонизације енергетског сектора: изградњу велике нуклеарне електране, више малих модуларних реактора као и имплементацију соларних и ветрогенератоских постројења са складиштењем енергије.

As part of the TPP-RSU project sponsored by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, a paper "Techno-Economic Comparison of a Large-Scale Nuclear Power Plant, Small Modular Reactors, and Wind and Solar Power Plant Deployment " was published in the prestigious international journal „ MDPI Energies“.

U Beogradu je u periodu 17-19. decembra održana edukativna radionica o izboru tehnologije malih modularnih reaktora, finansiranju, bezbednosti, sigurnosti i kontrolisanoj upotrebi nuklearnih tehnologija u mirnodopske svrhe, programa Osnovna infrastruktura za odgovorno korišćenje tehnologije malih modularnih reaktora. Svoj doprinos radionici dali su prof. dr Sanja Milivojević i Miloš Lazarević, članovi Katedre za termoenergetiku Mašinskog fakulteta Univerziteta u Beogradu.

U okviru panel diskusije Razmatranje tehnologije malih modularnih reaktora, Miloš Lazarević je izložio rad “POSSIBILITIES OF INCREASED VOLUMETRIC HEAT FLUX IN SCALED STEAM GENERATORS OF SMRs”, a prof. Milivojević u sklopu panel diskusije Finansiranje malih modularnih reaktora, rad pod naslovom”: “NET PRESENT VALUE AND PAYBACK PERIOD OF SMRs OVER LARGE-SCALE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT PROJECT”.

The Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) Workshop on Small Modular Reactor Technology Selection, Financing, and Safety, Security, and Non-Proliferation was held in Belgrade from 17 to 19 December. Professor Dr. Sanja Milivojević and Miloš Lazarević, members of the Department of Thermal Power Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, contributed to the workshop.

As part of the section SMR Technology Consideration, Miloš Lazarević presented the paper “POSSIBILITIES OF INCREASED VOLUMETRIC HEAT FLUX IN SCALED STEAM GENERATORS OF SMRs”, and as part of the section Financing Considerations in Technology Selection, Dr. Milivojević presented the paper entitled: “NET PRESENT VALUE AND PAYBACK PERIOD OF SMRs OVER LARGE-SCALE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT PROJECT”.

У периоду од 4. до 8. августа 2024. одржана је 31. Међународна конференција о нуклеарном инжењерству (ICONE) у Прагу.

Професор др Владимир Стевановић је на конференцији представио рад под називом „NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF POOL BOILING WITH TWO-FLUID MODEL AND GRID-RESOLVED HEAT TRANSFER MECHANISMS“.

У оквиру студентског програма, докторанд Милош Лазаревић је за рад „SCALING OF HORIZONTAL STEAM GENERATOR BASED ON THREE-DIMENSIONAL THERMAL-HYDRAULIC SIMULATIONS“ награђен од стране организатора конференције повељом „Награда за најбољи рад“ као и наградом Европске уније у оквиру програма Европске нуклеарне образовне мреже – ENEN2plus.

From August 4 to 8, 2024, the 31st International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE) was held in Prague.

Professor Vladimir Stevanović presented a paper "NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF POOL BOILING WITH TWO-FLUID MODEL AND GRID-RESOLVED HEAT TRANSFER MECHANISMS".

As part of the student program, PhD student Miloš Lazarević was awarded the "Best Paper Award" by the conference organizers for the paper "SCALING OF HORIZONTAL STEAM GENERATOR BASED ON THREE-DIMENSIONAL THERMAL-HYDRAULIC SIMULATIONS" as well as the European Union Award within the European Nuclear Education Network - ENEN2plus.

У хотелу „Rodos Palace“, на острву Родос у Грчкој, је од 30.6. до 5.7.2024. одржана међународна конференција 37th International Conference on Efficiency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation and Environmental Impact of Energy Systems - ECOS 2024. Проф. др Владимир Стевановић и проф. др. Сања Миливојевић су на постер сесији изложили рад под насловом „Carnot Battery Based on Pumped Thermal Energy Storage with Regenerative Pebble Bed and Steam Accumulator“. Овај рад је настао као резултат истраживања на пројекту .

The 37th International Conference on Efficiency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation and Environmental Impact of Energy Systems - ECOS 2024 was held in the Hotel Rodos Palace, on the island of Rhodes in Greece, from 30.6.-5.07.2024. Prof. Dr. Vladimir Stevanović and Prof. Dr. Sanja Milivojević presented a paper entitled "Carnot Battery Based on Pumped Thermal Energy Storage with Regenerative Pebble Bed and Steam Accumulator" at the poster session. This paper was created as a result of research on the TPP RSU project.

У оквиру пројекта под покровитељством Фонда за науку Републике Србије, публикован је рад под називом „Numerical investigations of steam accumulator dynamics: Assessment of computational models“ у престижном међународном часопису „Journal of Energy Storage“.

Акумулатори паре су кључне компоненте система за складиштење топлотне енергије у различитим постројењима које користе фосилне или обновљиве изворе енергије. Примена акумулатора паре омогућава максимално искоришћење обновљивих енергетских извора сунца и ветра, обезбеђење енергије у периодима мале издашности сунца и ветра, усклађивање расположивог капацитета производње електричне енергије са потребама потрошача и стабилан рад термоенергетских и електроенергетских система. Прецизно предвиђање динамике акумулатора паре представља кључни фактор за дизајн и поуздан рад система за складиштење енергије.

У раду је приказана компарација савремених рачунарских модела нумеричких прорачуна динамике акумулатора паре. Фокус је стављен на моделирање прелазних процеса при пуњењу и пражњењу акумулатора, применом биланса масе и енергије двофазног система пара – течност и равнотежних и неравнотежних модела за предвиђање испаравања и кондензације.

У овом раду је уведена унапређена корелација за одређивање концентрације разделне површине фазног прелаза која узима у обзир геометрију и димензије акумулатора паре, односно утицај односа оквашене површине у посуди акумулатора и његове запремине. Валидација резултата је извршена на основу доступних података измерених на индустријским и лабораторијским акумулаторима и потврђује поуздано предвиђање прелазних процеса у акумулаторима паре различитих запремина.

As part of the TPP-RSU project sponsored by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, a paper "Numerical investigations of steam accumulator dynamics: Assessment of computational models" was published in the prestigious international "Journal of Energy Storage".

Steam accumulators are key components of thermal energy storage systems in various plants using fossil or renewable energy sources. The use of steam accumulators enables the maximum use of renewable energy sources of the sun and wind, providing energy in periods of low solar and wind yields, harmonizing the available electricity production capacity with consumer needs and stable operation of thermal energy and power systems. Accurate prediction of steam accumulator dynamics is a key factor for the design and reliable operation of energy storage systems.

The paper compares modern computer models of numerical calculations of steam accumulator dynamics. The focus is on the modelling of transient processes during accumulator charging and discharging, using the mass and energy balance of a two-phase vapour-liquid system and equilibrium and non-equilibrium models for predicting evaporation and condensation.

In this paper, an improved correlation was introduced for determining the concentration of the dividing surface of the phase transition, which takes into account the geometry and dimensions of the steam accumulator, i.e. the influence of the ratio of the wetted surface in the accumulator container to its volume. The validation of the results was performed on the basis of available data measured on industrial and laboratory accumulators and confirms the reliable prediction of transient processes in steam accumulators of different volumes.

Професор Ларс Норд са Одељења за енергетику и процесно инжењерство на Норвешком универзитету за науку и технологију (NTNU) у Трондхајму одржао је предавање: „Издвајање и складиштење угљен-диоксида као пут ка декарбонизацији у Европи ?“ на Машинском факултету у Београду 21.03.2024.

Професор Норд је сарадник из иностранства тима који ради на пројекту који финансијски подржава Фонд за науку Републике Србије ГРАНТ бр. 3434 , који је реализују Машински факултет Универзитета у Београду и Иновациони центар Машинског факултета у Београду.

Професор Норд је кратко представио Норвешки универзитет за науку и технологију и Одсек за енергетику и процесно инжењерство. Затим је дао кратак преглед технологија за хватање и складиштење угљен-диоксида (CCS) и објаснио како та технологија може бити део енергетског система са великим делом варијабилне обновљиве енергије како у норвешком тако и у европском контексту.

Professor Lars Nord from the Department of Energy and Process Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim held the lecture: "Carbon capture and storage as a pathway to decarbonization in Europe?" at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on the 21th of March 2024.

He is a foreign member of the team working on the project financially supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia GRANT No. 3434 , which is implemented by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, and the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade.

Professor Nord gave a short introduction of NTNU and the Department of Energy and Process Engineering. Then he gave a brief overview of the carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies and explained how CCS can be a part of an energy system with a large portion of variable renewable energies both in the Norwegian and European context.

Професор др. Јовица Ризинић, члан пројектног тима из дијаспоре на пројекту , одржао је 14. децембра предавање на Машинском факултету у Београду под насловом „1,5 °C – УЛОГА НУКЛЕАРНЕ ЕНЕРГИЈЕ У ДЕКАРБОНИЗАЦИЈИ ЕЛЕКТРО СИСТЕМА – ONTARIO CASE”.

Професор Ризинић је завршио дипломске и докторске студије на Машинском факултету у Београду. После двадесет година рада у Институту за нуклеарне науке Винча и две године на Универзитету Висконсин у Милвокију, од 1996. ради у Канадској агенцији за нуклеарну регулативу (CNSC). Активно је ангажован на Универзитету Гвелф, Онтарио тех као и Алгонквин колеџу у Отави. Заслужни је члан Америчког друштва машинских инжењера (ASME) и добитник „Џорџ Вестингхаус“ златне медаље ASME за 2021. годину.

Professor Jovica Rizinic, a member of the project team from the diaspora on the project, held a lecture on December 14th at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade entitled “1,5 °C – THE ROLE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DECARBONIZATION – ONTARIO CASE”.

Professor Rizinic completed his graduate and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade. After twenty years of work at Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences and two years at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, he has been employed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) since 1996. Jovica is actively engaged at the University of Guelph, Ontario Tech and Algonquin College in Ottawa. He is the Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the recipient of the 2021. George Westinghouse Gold Medal by ASME.

У хотелу „Палисад“ на Златибору је од 8. до 10. новембра 2023. одржана међународна конференција ЕЛЕКТРАНЕ 2023. Проф. др Владимир Стевановић је изложио рад под насловом „Flexibility of power generation and possibilities for feasible upgrades of coal power plants: a case of the electric power industry of Serbia” а др Милан Петровић рад „Utilization of the flue gas waste heat by the low-pressure economizer at 350 MWe lignite-fired power-plant”. Ови радови су настали као резултат истраживања на пројекту .

The International Conference POWER PLANTS 2023 was held in Hotel “Palisad” on Zlatibor from 8-10th November 2023. Professor Vladimir Stevanovic presented a paper entitled „Flexibility of power generation and possibilities for feasible upgrades of coal power plants: a case of the electric power industry of Serbia” and dr Milan Petrovic presented a paper „Utilization of the flue gas waste heat by the low-pressure economizer at 350 MWe lignite-fired power-plant”. These papers were created as a result of research on the project.
