Belgrade International Model United Nations - B I M U N

BIMUN is an international conference simulating the work of the UN organized by the United Nations Association of Serbia since 2004.

What sets BIMUN apart is the high level of knowledge gained, real UN rules of procedure and the current issues covered. Belgrade International Model United Nations – BIMUN 2020 (19 – 23 May 2021) is the 18th annual international youth conference and will be focused on the theme "Multilateralism and solidarity: being ready for the unexpected". BIMUN 2021 Committees and Topics:
* SECURITY COUNCIL -

Situation in Western Sahara;
* HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL - Combating Human trafficking;
* United Nations Population Fund UNFPA- Facing the New Challenges of an Ageing World;
* GENERAL ASSEMBLY III COMMITTEE (High School students) - Impacts of Digital Technology on Democracy;
* United Nations Environment Assembly UNEA (High School students) - Negative impacts of deforestation on the environment;
* SECURITY COUNCIL CRISIS COMMITTEE (University students) - Deteriorating security situation in the Persian Gulf;
* SECURITY COUNCIL CRISIS COMMITTEE (High School students) - Crisis in the Caucasus: Renewed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Aside from work in the BIMUN committees, we will have plenary sessions with participation by experts. BIMUN 2021 General Assembly Plenum will be held on the final day of the conference, with the topic "Towards a world with equal opportunities and rights for all". Participants of the conference will be students from all over the world. The United Nations Association of Serbia has been organizing ''Belgrade International Model UN – BIMUN'', a simulation of the work of the UN bodies, since 2004. What sets BIMUN apart is the high level of knowledge gained, modeling with firm rules of procedure based upon the real working procedures of UN bodies, as well as the very current issues that are covered. Emphasis is placed on the preparation period for participants and realistic simulation. BIMUN 2021 will be an opportunity for diplomatic debates, with respect to multiculturalism and democratic values, but also for connecting young leaders. The conference will have a rich social life and special events (BIMUN party, BIMUN Diplomats Ball). The working language will be English. All BIMUN 2021 participants will receive certificates for participating in BIMUN 2021 and Best delegates will receive a special certificate. The BIMUN Project has been supported by the UN Secretary General, WFUNA President and UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. After 17 successfully organized international conferences (2004-2020), BIMUN has a high reputation among successful students and relevant institutions and international organizations. Our goal is to maintain that good tradition so that "BIMUN 2021" will be organized at the highest level. BIMUN is one of the most prestigious Model UN conferences in Europe and brings together ambitious students from around the world. So far 4215 participants from 78 countries have participated in seventeen BIMUN conferences. We had the honor of hearing an address by Jelena Manić Petronikolos, Team Leader and Programme Analyst at the SDG Integration Centre, UNDP Serbia, whose insights further emphasized the importance of sustainable development 🌱
