The First+ Workshops bring together students and professors from diverse art disciplines to collaborate on the design process of various interrelated projects.
By creating links between design and performance, First+ embraces a set of ‘worknets’ that link multiple universities and their design echoles. The aim of the workshops is to shape ideas, projects and events using a combination of creative languages that reflect various principles of art and design education.

November 28-December 04/2012 First+
October 22-October 29/2013.... First+2
April 12- April 17/2016 ........ First+3

The First+3 will focuse on design tools and social workflows for exploring, analyzing and visualizing dynamic socio-spatial data in a parametric visual art environment. Through a series of quantitative environmental analysis participants will practice different techniques of optimization and solution-finding, such as “multi-objective analysis” in order to address a number of design exercises which will be presented at the end of the workshop.

Artists and designers are increasingly using mobile applications to interpret the complex nature of social space and to assist in the development of innovative spatial solutions. While computer aided modeling capabilities have become increasingly available in recent years, the enormous quantity of social data still inhibits the extraction of meaningful conclusions and limits the overall accessibility of the data to designers and decision-makers in art practices.
The workshop will introduce a diverse range of workflows for extracting unification of design departments and art practices, including different modes of spatial data representation and the creation of customized visualizations.
