godine u okviru Instituta ekonomskih nauka u Beogradu, kao odgovor na potrebe rastućeg broja istraživača iz Srbije i regiona za specijalizovanim naučno-istraživačkim centrom u ovoj oblasti. CEI je zamišljen kao interdisciplinarni forum za umrežavanje stručnjaka iz zemlje i inostranstva i povezivanje njihovog rada na istraživačkim projektima u oblasti ekonomske istorije. Osim toga, CEI je mesto gde se formulišu dalji pravci razvoja istraživanja ekonomske istorije, razvija interdisciplinarna metodologija istraživanja i podstiče regionalna i međunarodna saradnja.
Članovi CEI su naučnici i stručnjaci različitih obrazovnih profila, zaposleni na najeminentnijim univerzitetima, naučnim i stručnim institucijama u zemlji i inostranstvu. Njihove oblasti interesovanja obuhvataju čitav niz istorijskih perioda i posebnih istraživačkih tema, od srednjeg veka do danas, i od makroekonomske politike i finansijske istorije, do demografskih promena i ekološke istorije. U skladu sa postavljenim ciljevima, CEI se bavi fundamentalnim istraživanjem, organizacijom naučnih seminara, konferencija, radionica, priređivanjem i digitalizacijom arhivskih i drugih istorijskih izvora, kao i izdavaštvom. The Center for Economic History (Centar za ekonomsku istoriju, CEI) was established on May 13 2019, within the Institute of Economic Sciences in Belgrade, in response to the needs of a growing number of researchers from Serbia and the region for a specialized research center in this field. CEI is conceived as an interdisciplinary forum for networking aimed at connecting the efforts of experts from Serbia and abroad, while expanding their capability for working on joint research projects in the field of economic history. In addition, CEI is a place where novel theoretical and methodological approaches to economic history research are formulated, and where regional and international cooperation is encouraged. CEI members are scientists and experts of different educational profiles, employed at the most prominent universities, scientific and professional institutions in the country and abroad. Their areas of interest cover a range of historical periods and specific research topics, from the Middle Ages to the present, and from macroeconomic policies and financial history, demographic change and environmental history. In accordance with its goals, CEI is engaged in fundamental research, organization of scientific seminars, conferences, workshops, preparation and digitalization of archival and other historical sources, as well as publishing.
