Our Kabe family is hurting today with the passing of our founder, Peter Marschall. Without his vision for a progressive school in Uvita, and his tenacious spirit, the dream of Kabe would never have become a reality. We all deeply mourn the loss of such a great man and leader, but we also remain inspired by the way Peter used his life to connect people in meaningful and long-lasting ways. Those connections and his spirit will live on.

Thank you, Peter, for having the courage to create a better world for our kids!

Last week was supposed to be Formal Friday to finish off our Spirit Week, but since we didn't have school, we shifted it to today! Our kids clean up pretty well!

Wednesdays for our Kabe kids are offline and screen free as much as possible. And today we asked them to take a walk in nature and capture where they were or what they saw in a picture. Here they are! Can you spot some of the animals?

Why to play a lot?

"Mira la diferencia entre la mano de un preescolar (izquierda) y la mano de un niño de 7 años (derecha). Los padres regularmente preguntan porque su hijo de edad preescolar no es capaz de escribir. ¡Este es el por qué! Sus manos están aún desarrollándose y no están totalmente formadas. Entonces, ¿qué deberíamos hacer para apoyarlos? ¡JUGAR! Plastilina, pintar, cortar, pegar, salir a jugar, escarbar en la tierra, juegos sensoriales, disfrazarse, experimentos de ciencias, ensartar, rompecabezas, lanzar pelotas, etc. Todas estas cosas les ayuda a que sus manos se desarrollen. ¡Cuando estén físicamente listos para escribir, lo harán! ¡No hay necesidad de apresurarlos, ellos te mostrarán cuando estén listos!

Next week is SPIRIT WEEK at Kabe! Although we planned to do this on campus, we see no reason why we can't adapt our SPIRIT WEEK to our online learning community! It's an opportunity to have some fun and be a little crazy together as a Kabe Family! Here is the plan for the five days:

Monday
Pajama and Pet Day (or stuffed animal): dress up in pajamas for the day and bring your pet or stuffed animal.

Tuesday
Crazy Hair or Hat Day: wear your hair in crazy ways or wear a cool hat.

Wednesday
Walk in Nature Day: since Wednesday is an offline and screen free day, we can all take a photo out in nature on a walk and share it on Whatsapp.

Thursday
Sports Day: dress up in your best sports gear and we will all do PE together that day.

Friday
Formal Friday: Jimmy Kimmel has been doing this lately and we're going to join in on the fun. Wear your best suit or collared shirt or dress!
